Makjang Queen Screenwriter Im Sung Han’s New Drama Marriage Lyrics and Divorce Music is the Highest Premiere Ratings for TV Chosun Ever at 5.708%

Retired early is basically not retired, anytime someone who is not true retirement age in entertainment announces a retirement I take it with a grain of salt. Such is the case with makjang queen screenwriter Im Sung Han, herself a famous name to drama audiences thanks to her string of hits in the weekend drama and daily category with Miss Mermaid, The Jewel Family, New Tales of Gisaeng, and Princess Aurora. Her stuff can be addicting if you’re in the mood for not just makjang but angry frustrating stuff that can lead to hate-watching. She announced her retirement 5 years ago and yet is back again dusting off her pen with new TV Chosun drama Marriage Lyrics and Divorce Music (okay, I love the title). The first episode this Saturday set a TV Chosun ratings premiere record with 5.708% AGB nationwide. She’s back and everybody get your blood pressure medicine ready.

  1. The episodes are divided into two parts. Part 1: 5.708%. Part 2: 6.864%.
The Part 2 ratings (6.864%) make MLDM the highest-rated drama ever of TV Chosun. And this is just the first episode! Get the info right, please.

  2. If she was ever going to make a comeback, now would be the perfect time since the makjang era is back with a vengeance: SC, WOTM, Penthouse, et al. Who’s the actress in white doing a wave? She kinda looks like Lee Ji-ah, doesn’t she?

If anyone’s watched this drama and She Would Never Know/Sunbae Don’t Put On That Lipstick, do kindly share your thoughts on them. Thanks.

    • I watched she would never know. I still haven’t dropped it yet, I think I will soon. Kinda mixed feeling about it, FL’s personality is really bad. Storylines and dialogues are cringe too. People mostly watched it for ML. I personally dislike ML’s acting.
Only thing I stay hanging on is because of second couple, they look good together and have more chemistry than the main couple.

      • Oh, I see. I read up some comments on DB and most of them were not happy with the ML whom they described as creepy, possessive and out of line for his actions in the premiere. It doesn’t sound like this is my kind of drama but I might watch the first two episodes to guage it. Thanks for replying, Sana.

    • The plot is pretty drama-esque (from a webtoon) but I really liked the execution. The characters looks pretty human with flaws and feelings. For now, the FL is dating the second male lead, so it’s kinda normal she doesn’t share chemistry with the male lead for now.
