Queen Cheorin Episode 19 Heads into Finale with 14.227% Ratings Along with Reunion and Death

It’s finale weekend for tvN weekend hit sageuk Queen Cheorin, and I’m filled with sadness of what this drama could have been with it’s record breaking debut ratings and two firing-on-all-cylinders leads Shin Hye Sun and Kim Jung Hyun. Alas it won’t set ratings records for tvN beyond the premiere and probably won’t have the longevity of viewers since it can’t decide if it’s a sageuk proper or fusion fun and instead hopscotched between the two like an awkward bunny on a hot tarmac. Episode 19 got 14.227% ratings and narratively delivered no major surprises other than getting rid of a major deadweight earlier than I expected. It’s the first time I’ve watched second male lead Na In Woo and other than being tall and easy on the eyes he was just majorly horrible – both performance and character. He’s like a really stumpy piece of wood that we audience members keep stubbing our toe on when we watch the drama.

“He’s like a really stumpy piece of wood that we audience members keep stubbing our toe on when we watch the drama.”

Lol, Koala is also firing on all cylinders. Both descriptions are so fitting and accurate. I’ll be back after I watch it.

    • Watched it. I have to agree again with Koala that nothing much happened this episode. I wonder how they stretched it to fill an hour. I felt a teeny bit sorry for BI but his end was long overdue. No more stiff and awkward acting. Yay!

So we didn’t get a flashback of what happened when So Bong visited Yeongpyeong and Hong in jail before she left the palace?

How about a flashback of what transpired when the man who saved the king (now revealed to be Damhyang’s dad) sneaked up on the king reading his secret message in EP18?

Kim Jwa Geun is so cold! From previous episodes, it seemed like he genuinely cared about BI. But he had him killed and felt nothing? Wow.

Waiting to see how they tie it all up today.

  3. First time watching Na In Woo too. Just checked out his filmography and apparently he was in Mystic Pop-Up Bar (only watched EP1) and Cinderella With Four Knights. Finished the second drama but I don’t recall him ever being in it. The man has zero charisma and severely limited acting skills. I’m doubtful he can lead a drama on his own.

  4. Agree! I can’t believe the writers gave him a lot of screentime in these episodes, especially in Ep 18. It become the downhill of this drama, I would prefer they will give more screentime to Hwa Jin instead, the actress is so beautiful and talented.
Thank God! Cheoljong came back in Ep 19. We all miss our King so much.

  5. That BI guy is the worst actor in the whole cast. The writers tried so hard to make him a star, by giving extra scenes and made a Gu Seungjun ending. But,they obviously failed. Idk he must have some big connections, by landing the role like this so easily with zero talent and charisma.

  6. The leads’s chemistry and acting skills are the best things in the show. The viewers don’t really care about that horrible cousin. They should have killed him off earlier than this because the actor is so bad at acting. Thank God! his character is not in main characters. Actually, he is not second male lead.
Veteran actors Bae Jong Ok and Kim Tae Woo are second leads, who complete the main four characters alongside King and Queen (see in the poster and official cast lineup).

  7. I’m glad we share same opinion with Koala this time. I was so mad in last week episode, they showed the King for a few seconds and focused on Byung In too much. Even in Ep 19, I actually hate by killing him to redeem himself. In fact, I don’t care about his character at all. It was still useless by hyping him for no reason.
For the ending, I am also okay with sad ending as long as it’s logical.

  8. @KOALA Na In Woo is the Villain in MYSTIC POP UP BAR I guess you didn’t notice him there but he was really good as a villain there.
