Netizens Spot Kim Go Eun and Ahn Bo Hyun Looking Close to Character Filming K-drama Adaptation of Webtoon Yumi’s Cells

Man, how can the production style male lead Ahn Bo Hyun like he just walked out of the webtoon and then miss so far off the mark with female lead Kim Go Eun. The two actors were spotted in the streets of Seoul this week filming the upcoming K-drama adaptation of super popular webtoon Yumi’s Cells. It’s drawn from the perspective of twenty-something office lady Yumi and all her “cells” who each have a unique purpose. There is anger cell, emotional cell, naughty cell, detective cell, hungry cell, you get the drift, and each cell springs into lead depending on what the situation is that Yumi is facing. I read the first few chapters and liked the concept and found the story pretty cute and interesting. With that said, Kim Go Eun I suspect is going to fight an uphill battle here cast as Yumi – she’s just not the vibe for the character (rather shy, more wallflower blend in type) whereas when she was cast as the female lead in Cheese in the Trap everyone thought she was spot on. It doesn’t help that she has the WORST HAIRSTYLE ever above, Yumi has short hair sure but if Song Hye Kyo can pull off the same style in Encounter (Boyfriend) it means the stylist did not have only one choice to give Kim Go Eun a flat, dull, straight bang bowl cut. Suddenly it makes Yumi seem less unassuming and more supremely dorky and she’s not that at all. Major sigh right off the bat. Oh, and Ahn Bo Hyun looks awesome here in character.

  2. Dear God, that hairstyle on Kim Goeun. The knetz aren’t going to let her live. And why is she black haired when the webtoon apparently shows her as blond?? I’ve never been a fan of her acting and to see her bogged down by appearance too is just………yeah. No doubt this is going to be as bad as CITT. Poor Bohyun.

  3. I liked Kim Go Eun in CITT but I didn’t think she was spot on as Hong Seol. Sure, she was liked in that part more than Oh Yeon Soo was but OYS was actually more spot on. KGE seemed really immature and loud in the part while OYS had that calm and cool aura that, to me, was reminiscent of the manhwa. But I did like the drama until all the drama and the later episodes. I really only noticed how different KGE’s interpretation was until I had time to digest and reread the manhwa.

  4. Why do I feel like they are going to butcher Yumi’s cells if she keeps on looking like that 🙁 Thought IU might have been more suitable. Oh well, to see how things unwrap

  5. LOL this one instance that I actually hope netizens make an uproar and put pressure on production to fix her appearance or at least explain this. Both her hair and outfit here are HORRIBLE and very unflattering and it almost feels like they are intentionally trying to make her look bad. They already know people aren’t feeling her casting so why and don’t think she looks like Yumi. So why make her styling be this different from the webtoon version on top of that? Then it’s KGE that will be getting hate too.

Hopefully this is just for a flashback and is not her look for most of the drama.

  6. Cheese in the Trap was kind if similar – netizens insisting she was a miscast….but then once the drama premiered (and before it took the weird turn) all the articles were full of praise for her interpretation of Hong Seol.

I hope this turns out ok though.

  7. *sigh* I agree, why do they do this to her? She can look so pretty with better styling. I hate the baby bangs look.
