Sooyoung to Join Jang Geun Seok in Kakao TV Drama Unexpected Country Diary

OMgarsh, this totally feels like a throwback pairing and great potential for same gen chemistry. Sooyoung of SNSD will be the leading lady in upcoming Kakao TV streaming drama Unexpected Country Diary with male lead Jang Geun Seok. I expected the two to have worked together already what with over 15 years in the industry as same generation stars but better now than never. It’s the story of a Seoul city man who moves to the countryside and his romance with a local policewoman. I totally think this is the rom-com het version of Beyond Evil mwahahaha. All joking aside, I’m real pleased with the casting and love that more big name stars are taking a chance with streaming dramas, it’s part of the future and let’s continue to embrace it.

  2. Not really a fan of Sooyoung’s acting tbh. She was so awkward in I Married an Anti-fan, but to be fair, so was Choi Tae Joon. The acting was just all-around bad lol. Among the SNSD members who act, I think Seohyun has the greatest potential as well as Yuri who proved naysayers wrong with her recent historical.

  4. Apologies for going off topic. SK has its own real life makjang story of the year. 75 year old veteran actor Kim Yong Gun’s pregnant gf (36 yr old) has filed a lawsuit against him for attempting to force her into abortion. Wow. KYG is the daddy of Ha Jung Woo who will attend trial for abusing propofol. Goodness. All the Penthouse, Mine or other makjang dramas cannot rival this fiasco. Lol.

  5. Can just imagine Han So Hee playing the 23 year old version of the girlfriend. What a family. Found out that Hwang Bora has been dating younger son Cha Hyun Woo since 2013. To find out you’re suddenly getting a younger sibling in your 40s. I pity the poor baby who’s innocent in this whole mess. If this was in China, imagine scrubbing KYG’s roles from all my fave dramas like What Happened To My Family. Lol.

  6. Jang geunsuk used to be Asian Prince but what happen now he only get to star in kakao mid budget drama with mid-tier popular and mid – talent idol actress. I feel so mad. He has so much to offer with his talent and face.

    • You are not a fan and don’t pretend to be.
Kakao TV is currently the place young Koreans watch drama and the transition to digital era is something wise actors do.
Jang Keun Suk is still the Prince of Asia because this is not what media can proclaim, it is what his free spirit gives him.

    • No. He was in army for 2 years and had another year of him having basically music projects to communicate with fans. But he wanted a drama suitable for him abd not just mainstream
