Rising Male Actor Kang Hoon From The Red Sleeve Cuff Cast as the Second Male Lead in the Upcoming K-drama Remake of TW-drama Someday or One Day

There is casting news around the K-drama remake of hit Taiwanese drama Someday or One Day that makes me happy but doesn’t obviate my earlier concerns with the previous announced casting. Rising young actor Kang Hoon, who was one of the breakout stars in The Red Sleeve Cuff playing the King’s frenemy in the political subplot, has been cast as the second male lead in the remake and will be playing Patrick Shih’s role. He joins Jeon Yeo Bin as the female lead played by Alice Ke and Ahn Hyo Seob as the most perplexing choice of the male lead which skyrocketed Greg Hsu (Greg Han) to superstardom. The only think I can think of Ahn Hyo Seon in being a smart pick is that he’s tall and handsome like Greg but honestly he hasn’t been able to channel any of his second lead promising potential into delivering onscreen after being elevated to male lead roles. His next attempt will be in SBS romance A Business Proposal and I’m fingers crossed for him because the sooner he breaks through as an actor the better for us as viewers if he keeps getting cast.

  2. I think Kang Hoon will be a better fit as the male lead. Hope AHS drops out of this project, otherwise, it will be second male lead syndrome all over again just like in Start Up.

  3. Not interested in either AHS or JHB playing the leads. Am pretty sure this guy will out-act AHS.

The TW version was just soo sooo good. Binged it and rewatched it multiple times – no Korean romance or time travel drama comes close. The script is just wonderfully written. TW has a way of portraying things in a very realistic, down to earth manner that I love. I can’t imagine SK remaking it and doing it well. Korea is always known for lacklustre remakes of amazing original stuff.

There’s also a gay character in the original version, just watch, SK will remove that character or make him a straight dude. Just ugh all around.

  4. Love love love his performance in TRS! No hate to AHS, but I wish he’s the lead instead. Oh well, wishing him a lead role for his next project!

  5. This is one of the weirdest ML and pairing castings I’ve seen, and of a show that does not need a remake.

Really hoping JYB rejects. I don’t get how you can go from co-starring opposite Song Kangho and Oh Jungse to Ahn Hyoseob ?‍?.

  6. he is seriously good. can picture him as second lead in someday and one day, and understand why they cast him in this. the vibe looks similar with the Original version
