KBS Readies Next Weekend Family Drama with It’s Beautiful Now Starring Yoon Shi Yoon, Oh Min Suk, and Seo Bum June as Three Brothers Looking for Love

Well this is like Ojakkyo Brothers but with one less brother, that hit drama had four marriage age brothers and this one just has three. KBS is winding down the airing of hit weekend long drama Young Lady and Gentlemen and the next on deck is It’s Beautiful Now. It follows a family with three sons played by Yoon Shi Yoon, Oh Min Suk, and Seo Bum June and the elders attempts to get them to all settle down into marriage. Each is paired with a female lead in Bae Da Bin, Shin Dong Mi, and Choi Ye Bin with Park In Hwan as the family patriarch. It’s from the writer Ha Myung Hee who is trying her hand on a long weekend drama for the first time and previously wrote Record of Youth, Temperature of Love, and Doctors.

  3. Awww… I miss Ojakkyo Brothers. It’s one of my ultimate favourite. If this is anything like that, I might just get back to watching weekend dramas. And Yoon Shi Yoon is in it so it looks even more promising!

    • My thought is different. I always like him since the king of baking but I felt he didn’t grab the opportunity to create a greater impact compare to some of his peers. He can do better but he doesn’t have the luck that is needed for one to go to the top.

And my impression is weekend show is either for newbies or those actors/actress who are not at their prime. Call me shallow but I would prefer him to do the usual 16 epi prime time tv series. This is a bit of a ‘demotion’ for him.

      • Most of his choice of drama didnt get high rating and popularity but they usually get good review. So there must be a reason why he picked this drama (I hope so). the writer isnt convincing tho based on her previous work

      • I kind of agree with it.
Weekend dramas are time consuming to shoot, so most actors in their prime rarely take it.

But K ent lately becomes like an arena where contestants fight to death to stay as winners.
Although more tv stations are on airing and more dramas are produced, a star to remain in limelight becomes more difficult.

During earlier years , only big three ( SBS ,KBS and MBC ) dominated , still hallyu stars rarely took more than one project per year.

Lately, our favorite leads seem to work nonstop and take one project after another to remain in spotlight.

Sad Sad The showbiz will overwork the stars if it continues in this way.

    • I’m not sure that’s a blessing knowing this writer’s past works… Love Si Yoon but it will be a pass. Hated ‘Temperature of Love’ and ‘High Society’ with passion…Just thinking of sitting through another boring work of her make me shiver.
      Never again.

    • Well, weekend dramas are considered a step down, so I wouldn’t say he’s lucky, but popular weekend dramas can restart a struggling career. He wouldn’t be doing a weekend drama if he hadn’t had a string of low-rated projects.

      • Weekend dramas are long but the scenes are not as difficult to shoot & mainly done on studios compared to primetime shows which are more rigorous. If he’s managed well, he can actually scout for pre-produced drama that he can do along side.

  4. I’m always pleasantly surprised by Yoon Shiyoon’s project choices. I’m glad he doesn’t limit himself to the prime time leading man box that a lot of his peers that share his level of experience and success do. He even recently did a webtoon with was very refreshing plot and approach of dealing about sex and incontinence.

Seems like his choices are character driven rather than scale of the projects, which tbh good for him. He is a wonderful actor and seems to be a very nice person. I enjoyed his gig as host on Heart Signal.

  5. Love Yoon Shi Yoon, 12 years after King of baking…he is returning to weekend drama . I liked him in Train, Your Honor and many more projects but younger ones are taking all the lead roles ( Song Kang, Nam Joo Hyuk, …) . I think it’s a smart move to boost his career .
