The Sound of Magic with Ji Chang Wook, Choi Sung Eun, and Hwang In Yeop Prepares to Enchant on May 6th Premiere on Netflix

The types of K-dramas that do well on Netflix run the entire gamut of genres and now we have a fresh new entry in a story line that is quite different. This May 6th the streaming platform will premiere The Sound of Magic adapted from the webtoon Annarasumanara about a magician in a rundown theme part who impacts the lives of two downtrodden high school students and who is either the real deal or a shyster on the run. Starring Ji Chang Wook, Choi Sung Eun, and Hwang In Yeop, the trio of leads are all delivering in the preview, there is a lot of emotion combined with stylistic deft in the production. It’s been a few months since Netflix dropped a new produced drama so I’m excited!

  1. I seldom praise Netflix produced k-dramas but I really like this one based on the first impression of posters, stills and teasers. They certainly create a mysterious magical mood. I have a soft spot for musicals too. The vibes I’m getting is Harry Potter crossed with Les Miserables. Really stoked that Wookie served up a different genre. My take on his acting in this drama from what I can see so far from the teaser is understated and restrained but in a good way. Me really liking his revitalized career trajectory for this one and then hopping straight to a hospice drama with a rocking buzz cut. Can’t wait for Friday.

    • Revitalized??? Let’s not get carried away just yet. And such high praise for a drama that isn’t even out yet? LOL. Okay.

      • Sorry for sounding I went overboard in praising or overly gushing. English is not my first language it’s my fourth one. The key points I want to convey are my first impressions and his journey in choosing roles hence the words career trajectory. I did not like his last three roles but this one seems like a positive one for me so far. Using the word revitalized is strictly my own personal assessment in that it’s an improvement from his prior roles in Melting Me Softly and Backstreet Rookie. Just want to give him credit for choosing a different role. I don’t mean to force my opinion on others or that it’s true for everyone else. Maybe a better word would be re-inventing/add newness/add strength/add new vigour to his resume. I may change my assessment after I watch the whole series.

    • Choi Sung Eun is going to be shine in this based on the trailer alone. Whoever editing the teaser deserved a raise, my interest pick up ten folds after watching the teaser! and it’s from the director from itaewon class! his team for choice of music is excelent there!

      • @missjb agree with you that FL may deliver solid performance based on teaser. I wonder JCW did all singing by himself or dubbed by another singer? He was in musical theatre during his military enlistment. That’s why I got so excited. My dream is to see JCW, SIG and IU sing together in a drama one day. I love SIG singing This is the moment in SKL. Well at least one part of my dream is achieved. Lol.

  2. Whoever is advising him in choosing roles after BR deserves a raise. Nothing in k-ent now interest me except this and Jinx’s Lover. Na In Woo as the ML with Seohyun makes me swoon.

  3. Esperando con mucha emoción y alegría el estreno de la magia 🎩🎩🎩 Ji Chang Wook es un magnífico actor mi admiración crece día a día. Le deseo todo el éxito que merece The Sound of Magic 💖💖💖

  4. Anarasumanara is a solid webtoon. Whether actors are good or not, for me this will be a sure hit esp director is solid too.

  5. Finally getting to watch another of Hwang In Yeop’s drama. 😍😍😍❤️❤️
Ji Chang Wook is a good actor, no cap. ❤️❤️
    And the female lead!! 🥺🥰❤️

The trailer alone be sending chills up my spine. 🥶🤧🥶
