Yumi’s Cells 2 with Kim Go Eun and Jinyoung Premieres Exclusively on Streaming Platform TVing for Second Season

Oh, I hope there is an English-based streaming platform that will pick this up otherwise it won’t get as much exposure and audience access as the first season. Yumi’s Cells 2 premiered last week on June 10th Friday and for some reason I thought it would follow the first season which aired on tvN and then streamed on TVing. But the second season will only stream on TVing which is why it slipped my mind that it premiered since there are no ratings to report. The second season picks up exactly where the first left off with Woong and Yumi breaking up and we spend a lot of time on Yumi’s cells working through the breakup from denial to second-guessing to hope to resignation to revival. It’s always that balance of cell interaction capturing the inner emotions of Yumi plus Kim Go Eun‘s winning performance and relatable character as Yumi which grounds this drama and continues to deliver in this second season. New male lead Jinyoung is charming in his own way as Yoo Babi (Bobby) and I’m looking forward to how the new romance develops.

  1. Just watched the first two episodes of Season 2 and it is still very slice of life, Kim Go Eun is so talented and those cells are just too cute being fan cells to Gong Yoo and Min Ho but I find myself comparing it to season 1 and this S2 feels like it’s missing something that will keep you anticipating the next episode. Honestly, Yoo Ba bi is too suave about everything and I kinda miss Woong’s awkwardness/nerdiness which made me root for him in the first place. Anyways, I love Kim Go Eun so maybe I’ll stick around or I’ll just come back for season 3 to see how Yumi gets her happily ever after. Any news on who will play Yumi’s groom?

  2. I really liked the first episodes of the second season. I really like this story and the cells, they explain so well the different feelings she’s experiencing. It will be nice to see her relationship with Babi who is very different from Woong, way more direct and honest.

  3. Yumi’s Cells are on Viki so it can be seen by anyone who subscribes
Lots of kdrama sand cdramas that aren’t on Netflix are on Viki with English subs. I really enjoyed the first series but having watched the first two episodes of this series don’t feel as invested in it.

  4. Maybe they just opted to make exclusive to TVING and then air it a few months later on TVN. That seems to be their strategy now with The Witch’s Diner, Work Later, Drink Now, Dr. Park’s Clinic, and I Haven’t Done My Best Yet, as well as King of Pigs on OCN.

    • I could see that, using it to fill in a gap in the schedule. They know how the first season did. The ratings were okay for the time slot but not great. If it did well on TVING though it makes sense to just air it there. It’s the kind of drama that appeals to younger viewers who might watching exclusively on apps anyway.

  5. Vi la primera temporada y me enamore de la trama, cuando me enteré que había una segunda me quedé super emocionada estoy anciosa por que ya la estrenen la química que pueda surgir de nuevo en yumi 🤭♥️♥️♥️♥️😍😍😍
