Han Dynasty C-drama Love Like the Galaxy Wraps Run with 7.6 Rating on Douban as Viewers Clamor for Director’s Cut

I don’t know if there will be a Director’s Cut but there is definitely for sure extra scenes and dialogue filmed for Love Like the Galaxy out there. Diving into the sweet abyss of official BTS videos released by the production, who are basically crack dealers during the entire run, I can see leads Zhao Lu Si and Wu Lei rehearsing lines for scenes that didn’t happen in the scene as aired. Plus the rumors that around 10 episodes worth of material was cut to make it a 56-episode series, I would love to have a DC one day. As for the drama, it ended with 7.6 ratings on Douban, and among the idol/young love lead dramas it’s high. A Dream of Splendor with Crystal Liu and Chen Xiao leads for the year with 8.0 but falling far below is The Blue Whisper with Allen Ren and Dilraba Dilmarut and Who Rules the World with Yang Yang and Zhao Lu Si each with 5.8, and Immortal Samara with Yang Zi and Cheng Yi with 5.6. Ratings aren’t out yet for Love Between Fairy and Devil with Dylan Wang and Yu Shu Xin but C-netizen reviews are primarily praising the set and costume design, quality CGI, but bemoaning the acting of the two leads as not up to par (i.e. too forced). Anyhoo, I’m still in MASSIVE WITHDRAWL phase for LLTG so have some more pretty stills of 081-33 to add to your collection. With this drama, one can rewatch all or simply select scenes that deliver in comedy (the bridge collapse is forever on rerun with me), romance (081 teaching 33 “self-defense), or pathos (081 killing the dude who murdered his entire family. This drama has it all, and then some.

C-netizens love sharing the only still of Wu Lei and Zhao Lu Si in their first drama together The Long Ballad where he was male lead and she was second female lead so basically no scenes together except for the scene where he took her hostage (see below). OMG 081 what are you doing to your 33?!?! Bad boy, bad boy!

Luckily we ended up with this in LLTG so I don’t have to put Wu Lei in time out haha.

Han Dynasty C-drama Love Like the Galaxy Wraps Run with 7.6 Rating on Douban as Viewers Clamor for Director’s Cut — 36 Comments

  1. Ugh I have massive withdrawals too! I would love love a director’s cut. The BTS clips are too short! I need more OTP scenes. I enjoyed A Dream of Splendor too, but I feel like Love Like the Galaxy was better based on consistent pacing, writing, and plot development. Chemistry was good in both. The emperor was the same in both lol.

  2. The tencent special episode dump is not available in my region but I agree with you. Spilling all the bully-bitches into a shallow pond by virtue of one’s superior structural dynamic skills. Oh hell yeah.

  3. People who complain about the acting in this masterpiece are crazy. This series works because of the acting. Anywho I am all for a director’s cut. Director Fei make it happen.

    • who tf is complaining about the acting?! it was stellar all across the board. one would have to be blind (perhaps with hatred) to think otherwise.

  4. it’s a special kind of joy seeing a drama that you loved getting all the critical accolades AND commercial success it deserves. hope this will propel all involved, especially wu lei, zhao lusi, and the director, into further stardom and bring many more high quality opportunities to them. they will always have a fan in me.

  5. gosh did you see the edit that C-netizens did, where WuLei’s character in The Long Ballad took Zhao Lusi’s character hostage, pushed her away, only into Lin Buyi’s arms in the pagoda scene and the tent scene… so much squee. plus all the crazy shipping based on the livestream and BTS goodies

  6. tencent can take all my money I need another 10 eps/ director cuts or whatever as long as I can see them more. 56 eps felt so short I miss them already. The douban score should be higher tho but 7.6 definitely one of the highest this year so bravo to the team !

    • I think the 7.6 rating is an insult! This show is a 9.5 all day. I’m glad cctv acknowledged that this is a hit drama. Who does the ratings because this show has been severely under rated. I watched the final episodes on Tencent… and I’m watching it on Viki so I can rate it at the end!

      • My sentiments exactly. No tropes, great acting, solid screenplay, excellent directing and a phenomenal following of rabid fans (including me) that appreciated the best Chinese drama after NIF. Great comic relief and unique presentation with character growth. Okay …maybe a 9.4 rating .. but nothing less.

  7. oh and congrats to the team as cctv certified them as the hit drama of the summer ! the fact that the drama is lead but young actor and actress and no traffic stars this shows how good the drama as a whole !

  8. I love it! Can’t get enough of it. The actors are fabulous and I do not mind sitting there reading all the sun titles, that’s how hood it is.

  9. Nobody sane is complaining about the acting in LBFAD. *eye roll* Wu Lei may be the better actor, but they’re both memorable characters as both are antiheroes. A lot of people on social media who enjoyed lltg still names DFQC as their fave character this year, DFQC x XLH as fave couple, and lbfad as fave 2022 drama. And it hasn’t ended yet.

    • lol. many who enjoyed lltg name dfcq as their fav character ? lmaoooo girl if you love lbfad just go and watch your drama ok dont bring your lies here. obviously both drama are equally popular fave character of the year, fave couple and fave drama of the year say who? you??

    • oh and apparently Ling Buyi character has been number one on vlinkage since lltg started airing so fav character of the year dfqc ? say you and random internet user ? 🤣

    • random LBFAD fan has the audacity to speak lies here. It all voted by his own fans hahahah. lltg definitely a better drama overall from the plot/script and acting. and almost all the data has lltg as the top. lbfad as fave drama 2022? have you heard of menghualu? thats the only national hit this year and fave drama of 2022. lbfad not even close. oh yeah and fhe girl in LBFAD cant even act lol both of the leads need to get some acting class

      • LBFAD opened on Douban with a score of 7.7, higher than Lltg despite the much lower budget. LLTG’s cast cost more but LBFAD shines in its young cast, tight plot, cgi, and OST.

Maybe you and Koala shouldn’t criticise unfairly out of prejudice, Chinese viewers are saying if LBFAD aired first it would get even more views, and it’s already the top viewed drama on IQiyi in 2022.

    • and apparently cctv the biggest national tv has mentioned that LLTG is the current hit web drama and guess what they didnt mention you so called fave drama of the year so where you at? speak with fact not simply throwing lies

    • I don’t want to bring in the comparison between the two but yes koala’s statement is far from true. Dylan Wang was criticised for his acting before Love between Fairy and Devil but he is quite praised here and he’s doing a good job. Plus, Yu Shuxin’s voice was only criticized which also grows on you, never her acting. I’m wondering where koala got her info from.

      • I meant her acting was not criticised. All the actors are doing a good job here and honestly LBFaD is a full package. These kind of statements can be misleading. I wish koala was more careful.

  10. Honestly I’m just happy to see so many cdrama articles finally! Can we also please get some write ups for love between fairy and devil and lost in the kunlun mountains? Really want to know what people think about these two dramas!

  13. I’m not sure why dream of splendor had higher rating when the story wasn’t well told and honestly the acting was not satisfactory. The ending went nowhere. As for c netz complaining about the 2 leads performances, maybe they are blind. That has to be the reason.

    • i don’t think anyone’s complaining about wu lei and zhao lusi. quite the contrary actually. koala meant people are complaining about the leads of lbfad.

  14. The acting of LBaFD is really good. The complain people had was about Esther Yu voice. She got the voice of a two-year-old kid enhancing her already natural high pitched voice.

  15. Are these even facts. Currently watching LBaFAD because it showed up while I was watching LLTG but boy Dylans acting is top notch as the moon supreme. Esther acts just as she should wouldn’t say she is extraordinary but again if you remember how Jinmi was in ashes of love here Xiolan Hua is a slightly clever version of that. Chemistry between the leads is what is to die for so much that even the BTS of their scenes could have a drama of its own. Go watch it for yourself and then belive what’s stated. For me both are different genres but to say LLTG is above LBaFAD is untrue. LLTG has a splurge of supporting characters who have their own plots and stories. Not even comparing the production cost. If we start doing that the comparison won’t even be on the same level. So be unbiased and enjoy both.

  16. LLTG tops any favourite Asian drama I may have had in a long long long long time. The complexities, the romance, the tragedy, this is a perfect drama. Even the supporting characters’ dynamics were so good, that they could make their own little drama. Did you see the two main leads’ chemistry from the beginning even when they hadn’t seen each other’s faces? I was convinced this was going to be an amazing drama and it lived up to my expectations. I love it when dramas and series don’t let me skip because I’d miss out on a lot within just 5secs. Chinese dramas for me usually have a huge skip quality, I could skip a whole episode and it still makes sense.

I assumed the low rating was because of the rushed ending but since the highest rated drama is 8, 7.6 is not bad. I would rate it 10. I don’t usually go around rating dramas but this one got me to.
