High School Growing Pains are No Match for Sassy Go Go’s Brand of Cheer

Upcoming KBS Mon-Tues drama Sassy Go Go is trying its hardest to dish out the perky and cute in equal measure and so far it’s succeeding with me. The first previews were intentionally dorky and silly but got the point across – this is one earnest school yard tale about kids navigating the pitfalls of high school lifeĀ using cheer or whatever positive uplifting activity helps them through growing pains. This drama is like the opposite of melancholy and dark Angry Mom, or if AM used cheer/dance to solve problems.

The first drama poster is here, showing the five leads Jung Eun Ji, Lee Won Geun, Ji Soo, Chae Soo Bin, and Cha Hak Yoon in various arrested movement poses with the colorfully rendered school as the drop. I’m dying here with Ji Soo’s bboy outfit, LOL. He looks less dolled up in his first character stills (below), looking very much like the angsty side of his Angry Mom character. There are also new stills of the two leads, and much as I like Lee Won Geun’s sweet smile, he just looks like platonic BFFs next to Eun Ji for whatever visual reason. Continue reading
