Choi Jin Hyuk Offered Male Lead Role in MBC Medical Drama Hospital Ship Opposite Ha Ji Won

The medical and legal genre K-dramas have been a prime time ratings boon for SBS this past year and I’m not surprised MBC is scheduling a doctor drama coming up soon. The network is following up sageuk Ruler: Master of the Mask on Wed-Thurs with modern medical drama Hospital Ship, which generated buzz right off the bat last month when A-list actress Ha Ji Won was reported to be the female lead. She hasn’t confirmed yet but I think it’s highly likely as a doctor role is another new opportunity for her not to mention Hospital Ship is written by the screenwriter of Hwang Jin Yi which rocketed Ha Ji Won to the next level of her career. Now the drama is offering up the male lead role to Choi Jin Hyuk who just finished the OCN time-traveling crime drama Tunnel. Confirmations should be coming soon so the drama can head into production with a premiere date in the middle of July. Continue reading

Lee Min Ho Costars and Good Friends Turn Out En Masse for Gangnam 1970 VIP Premiere

The upcoming gangster noir period film Gangnam 1970 has basically turned into the Lee Min Ho show even if the movie has him co-headlining along with Kim Rae Won. If I were Kim Rae Won I wouldn’t let this bother … Continue reading

2014 MBC Year End Drama Awards

The 2014 MBC Drama Awards mostly went off without a hitch, other than the Jaejoong last minute inexplicable no-show hiccup and all the winners being as predicted to make the evening feel rather dull. The fashion parade was more interesting … Continue reading

Bevy of Super Tall K-actors Towering Onscreen in Pinocchio and Pride and Prejudice

I know K-dramas have been on a flower boy roll for the last few years, but recently I’ve really started noticing that all the leading men in K-dramas have gotten progressively taller and taller. Early Hallyu had quite a few leading … Continue reading

One Crazy Red Dress Snatches the Buzz at the Lackluster 51st Grand Bell Awards

The 51st Grand Bell Awards went off without a hitch last night in Seoul, though apparently there was major behind-the-scenes conflict between the past and present organizers. It was also quite a dud of an affair with the wins mostly … Continue reading

Jo In Sung Wins the Daesang at the 2014 APAN Star Awards

I posted two weeks ago about the nominees for the 2014 APAN Star Awards and how some choices were pretty legit while others strangely unfathomable. Pretty much the usual when it comes to acting awards in Korean drama entertainment. Last … Continue reading

Third Preview for Pride and Prejudice Ups the Interest Level Despite Lackluster Drama Posters

I think the Korean drama Pride and Prejudice about a bunch of prosecutors fighting crime is turning out alright based on the previews and stills. It’s definitely not a romantic story about singles navigating the marriage mart but using the … Continue reading

Pride and Prejudice Delivers Visually Arresting Noir Character Posters and Second Teaser

Watching the just released second teaser for Pride and Prejudice, there’s actually a whiff of the Hero vibe from the J-dorama starring Kimura Takuya about an oddball but brilliant prosecutor working with equally odd prosecutorial colleagues. That’s not a bad … Continue reading

Pride and Prejudice with Choi Jin Hyuk and Baek Jin Hee Looking Good in First Preview and Stills

The first preview for the upcoming bickering prosecutors MBC drama Pride and Prejudice arrives for me like a cat sniffing nip. My interest is piqued and my appetite whetted. Starring Choi Jin Hyuk and Baek Jin Hee, both actors I like … Continue reading
