Lee Seung Gi and Choi Jin Hyuk Reunite for Upcoming tvN Procedural K-drama Mouse

I love it when I’m totally surprised and this K-drama casting news was a nice jolt heading into end of week. tvN is prepping a new procedural K-drama Mouse and in talks for the male leads are Lee Seung Gi and Choi Jin Hyuk, who memorably played Gumiho daddy and half-Gumiho son in the fantasy sageuk Gu Family Book. The two men will be playing detective partners in this drama, a serious procedural that deals with whether psychotics and psychosis can be identified in advance before crimes are committed. It’s from the screenwriter of God’s Gift: 14 Days and Black and slated for airing in the second half of 2020. Continue reading

Kim Hye Ja and Jung Woo Sung Take Home the Drama and Movie Daesangs at the 2019 Baeksang Arts Award

The 2019 Baeksang Arts Award was actually good for once, the winners moreso than the fashion which remains an uninspiring and safe sea of black and white gowns. Veteran queen Kim Hye Ja deservingly took home the Daesang (Grand Prize) … Continue reading

Male Lead Choi Jin Hyuk Unavailable to film 4-episode Extension for SBS Drama An Empress’s Dignity

The surprising early on success of SBS Wed-Thurs drama An Empress’s Dignity has let to the network ill-advisedly deciding on an extension, coming at a time when it’s ratings have dropped and now been eclipsed by KBS drama What’s Up … Continue reading

SBS Soapy Melo An Empress’s Dignity Reaches 14.6% Rating in Episode 20 Near Halfway Point

My Wed-Thurs are currently preoccupied with tvN quiet slow burn romance Encounter (Boyfriend) but even if it wasn’t I don’t think I would still want to watch An Empress’s Dignity. None of the four leads Jang Nara, Shin Sung Rok, … Continue reading

Tae Hang Ho Transforms into Choi Jin Hyuk in Hilariously Outlandish K-drama Character Switch in An Empress’s Dignity

I thought the days of super outlandish melo was over but here we are at the end of 2018 with An Empress’s Dignity (The Last Empress). It’s apparently so over-the-top with cartoonish villains and candy heroines and also the most … Continue reading

Lee Min Ho Costars and Good Friends Turn Out En Masse for Gangnam 1970 VIP Premiere

The upcoming gangster noir period film Gangnam 1970 has basically turned into the Lee Min Ho show even if the movie has him co-headlining along with Kim Rae Won. If I were Kim Rae Won I wouldn’t let this bother … Continue reading

2014 MBC Year End Drama Awards

The 2014 MBC Drama Awards mostly went off without a hitch, other than the Jaejoong last minute inexplicable no-show hiccup and all the winners being as predicted to make the evening feel rather dull. The fashion parade was more interesting … Continue reading

Bevy of Super Tall K-actors Towering Onscreen in Pinocchio and Pride and Prejudice

I know K-dramas have been on a flower boy roll for the last few years, but recently I’ve really started noticing that all the leading men in K-dramas have gotten progressively taller and taller. Early Hallyu had quite a few leading … Continue reading

One Crazy Red Dress Snatches the Buzz at the Lackluster 51st Grand Bell Awards

The 51st Grand Bell Awards went off without a hitch last night in Seoul, though apparently there was major behind-the-scenes conflict between the past and present organizers. It was also quite a dud of an affair with the wins mostly … Continue reading

Jo In Sung Wins the Daesang at the 2014 APAN Star Awards

I posted two weeks ago about the nominees for the 2014 APAN Star Awards and how some choices were pretty legit while others strangely unfathomable. Pretty much the usual when it comes to acting awards in Korean drama entertainment. Last … Continue reading
