It’s her birthday and I don’t think Kim Sae Ron will be crying even if she wanted to. The youngest of the three Kim child actresses dominating the last decade of K-dramas and movies turned 18 on July 31st, with a 2000 birth year following in the footsteps of oldest Kim So Hyun born in June of 1999 and then Kim Yoo Jung in September of 1999. Unlike her two older unnis, Kim Sae Ron hit peak child actress fame not on television with drama roles but in one breakout movie lead role in The Man From Nowhere with Won Bin, and has followed that up with a more robust movie career and doing about one drama a year. I love her lovely aura and distinctive features, she looks exactly like she did as a kid ten years ago except all grown up into a young lady now. Good luck in her adult role transition and hopefully she keeps picking good acting projects. Continue reading

Seeing more of the teasers and behind-the-scenes look at upcoming jTBC fantasy-tinged sageuk Mirror of the Witch slowly eases me into anticipation. The real life major age gap between back from the army Yoon Si Yoon and teenage Kim Sae … Continue reading

I may find upcoming cable network jTBC supernatural tinged sageuk Mirror of the Witch pretty as a picture in all the promos, but it’s still a tad nerve wracking to anticipate it knowing the big age gap between the leads … Continue reading

Fantasy tinged sageuk drama Mirror of the Witch (Witch Exemplar) is certainly setting the right visual tone with the first set of character posters. The layout isn’t innovative but the color tones and expressiveness of each actor brings the mood … Continue reading

There’s a saying that kids grow like weeds, not as a negative connotation but a simile for how they sprout so quickly. It’s been a pleasure watching yet another round of this occur before our eyes as three very talented … Continue reading

I feel really conflicted about Kim Sae Ron‘s casting choices, not because I think she’s choosing poorly but more that gray line between acting and real life. She basically an undisputed child actress prodigy, but with it comes the desire … Continue reading
