So Squid Game got ALL the K-drama thunder on Netflix in 2021 but thankfully all that may have directed attention to other Netflix available K-dramas including D.P. (Deserter Pursuit) which premiered right before Squid Game. D.P. got rave reviews and was soon greenlit for a second season who arrived this weekend on Netflix almost exactly two years from the original’s release date. This second season has leads Jung Hae In, Koo Kyo Hwan, and Kim Sung Kyun back and also new lead Son Seok Gu. It’s still trying to tell the story of the painfully endured trials and tribulations of soldiers in South Korea due to its mandatory military service and while it’s not a genre or backdrop that emotionally lures me in at least there is a great series that deals with this topic that affects so many in SK as all dudes have/will serve and women all know someone who served.
