NHK Releases Trailers for the 2012 Taiga Taira no Kiyomori

The official poster for Taira no Kiyomori is pretty, isn’t it? Very striking and a great visual image of Matsuyama Kenichi as the titular character. A month away from it’s premiere date, the upcoming 2012 Taiga has finally released it’s trailers. The tagline for the dorama reads: The Hegemon of the Seas, the King of the Warriors. A great looking trailer of course cannot guarantee a good end product, but so far I like what I’ve seen. It all comes down to lead Matsuyama Kenichi being just too awesome for words, exuding this gritty magnetic connection with the camera. I’m now understanding why he’s likely a perfect casting choice, because Kiyomori appears to be this period oddity amongst his clansmen, and he ventures out to conquer the seas before returning to set up the first Japanese Bakufu.
