Cable Network tvN Planning First Ever Year End Drama Awards

This is great news for fans of cable network tvN‘s stable of K-dramas – the network has just announced that it’s planning to hold the first year end awards this year. Year end awards from the big three networks SBS, MBC, and KBS are a staple in K-ent and I always have a blast covering it. The fashions, the easy to predict winners of the various celebratory awards, chuckling if any network bends over backwards to create new award categories to spread the wealth, and the hilarity of watching a once-in-a-blue moon split the baby down the middle moment like the unforgettable MBC decision to give the 2008 Daesang to Song Seung Heon for East of Eden and Kim Myung Min for Beethoven Virus. That I totally approve of and it’ll be fun if the network doesn’t take it seriously and makes up entertaining and even silly award categories. If there is a worst drama ever that would belong to Basketball, and likely Answer Me 1994 would bag the worse fanshipping war trophy. I still think network year end awards should be called year end appreciation thank you’s since it’s just an employer doling out gratitude to the actors and actresses who delivered the ratings for the network that year irrespective of quality.
