Park Shin Hye is currently in Taiwan filming the GTV drama Hayate the Combat Butler with her co-star George Hu. The drama is an adaptation of a popular shonen manga, and has tentatively gotten an April 2011 air date. George plays a, what else, martial arts wielding butler to Park Shin Hye’s granddaughter of a chaebol. I’ve never read the manja, but I’m assuming hijinks and forbidden love ensues. I like Park Shin Hye, but have never loved any of her characters or performances. Here’s to hoping this drama at least turns out entertaining.

From what I know, there is never any overt romance in the manga, which is jusr as well as PSH's character is supposed to be 12. Clearly, they changed that for the drama, so I bet there will be romance (they did the same with jdrama adaptation of Mei-chan).
Can I post some of the pics in my lj? (With full credit and hosted on my own pb, of course).
But of course, Mousie. Happy to share, as always. I subconsciously dressed mysllf like a cross btw Mae Ri and Mu Gyul today. I need to get my head checked
LOL - Koala, let me tell you a story about an attack that happened in San Diego last night.
There was this girl that went to Boba with three of her non asian friends. None of the three friends watch Korean dramas but this one girl did. While the 4 friends sat at a table and enjoyed their boba, laughing over a very competitive game of jenga - the girl hears an oddly familure sound of "Message is here, Message is here" in a cute voice spoke in a foreign language.
The girl pops up, knocks over the jenga tower, and says very loudly - "where did that come from? Where is it?" Again the little tone goes off "message is here, message is here" The girl turns to her left and spots a little asian girl with her very big boyfriend playing with her cell phone.
The "message is here" phone goes off again. Our little boba drinking, jenga playing girl is sure that it's coming from the cell phone playing, big boyfriend girl now. Without realizing it, the formerly sane boba drinker screams "I WANT THAT!" and runs across the cafe to the cell phone player and starts talking to her in rapid korean. Begging for the cellphone player to tell her where she got that ringtone and if she could please please PLEASE share it.
The scared cellphone player then timidly hands over the phone while the boba drinker rapidly post the tone on a mediafire account, so that she could download it onto her phone.
All night long - all you hear in a little corner of san diego, is a former sane boba drinking saying "message is here, message is here" in a foreign language - while her cell phone does the same.
Now that - is needing your head checked. **PS sorry for the long post.
there was overt romance but for the sake of not revealing spoilers i wont tell. haha. but basically the manga is mostly action and comedy because it is a shonen manga meaning a manga that is intended for boys (ie: naruto, fairy tail, katekyo hitman etc). so the romance is not the main plot drive unlike the usual manga-drama adaptations which is mostly shoujo manga-intended and read by girls (ie: hanayori dango,itazuranakiss, fushigi yugi etc)
im sorry if it turned out like a manga classification lecture my apologies.
From wikipedia;
Hayate Ayasaki is an unlucky teenager who worked since childhood to make ends meet due to his parents' irresponsible behavior. One day he finds out that his parents were planning to sell his organs to the Yakuza to make money, leaving behind a massive gambling debt on his shoulders. While running away from the debt collectors, he ends up meeting Nagi Sanzen'in, a young girl who is the sole heir of the wealthy Sanzen'in estate, and due to a misunderstanding, Nagi ends up falling in love with Hayate. After he rescues Nagi from some kidnappers, she hires Hayate as her new butler.
Aside from performing his ordinary duties as a butler, Hayate must fight to protect Nagi from harm, a difficult task since her life is always in danger because she is the target of other individuals coveting her family's fortune, and sometimes deal with some extravagant requests from her, oblivious to Nagi's true feelings for him. In the later story, Hayate has to deal with the feelings of several other girls, including Hinagiku, the student council president of Hakuō Academy. He is revealed to have had a romantic relationship with a female character some ten years previous, who is revealed to be Athena, chairman of the board of Hakuō Academy.
So they have changed the main female characters age so they can weave in the romance in the story even though Hayate has a gf in the manga most likely maybe the evil female character in the drama adaptation.
i know her from drama "you are beautiful"
and i love her soooooooo much
she is really pretty
watch "you are beautiful"
and you will agree with me
should see her in Stairway to Heaven when she was still a teen...she looked even cuter....and ever so sweet!
this is one of my favorite manga. but this is more of comedy and action so i just have to wait and see how will they interpret it to a drama. i hope i wont be disappointed.
They're making a drama of this? I stumbled across the anime on tv when I was in another country and it was one of the most randomest things I've ever seen...giant robots out of nowhere...o_0 Here's hoping the drama is fun to watch XD
Don't really adore George Hu because I'm shallow and like handsome/cool guys in my dramas.
Awww, but George is so cute! I always liked him haha.
You're right, he was cute in that drama with Rainie & Jiro. He has a good athletic bod. I'm just spoiled by the likes of Lee Min Ho, Kim Bum, ...
Okay, scratch what I said about Mark's American accented Chinese bothering me in B&W (as I watch more, I care less about it). In comparison, Mark's Chinese is a gazillion times better than George Hu, who in my opinion, is also not a great actor. The guy's adorable though, just haven't liked him in any TW dramas thus far.
I might actually check this one out. I like George, and this sounds delightfully random. I bet they're going to dub over PSH's dialogue, though. -_-;
I think George played an autistic kid well in ToGetHer. I don't remember seeing him pin anything else though so my perspective is narrow.
I do wonder how the show will work out with her not speaking Chinese (that we know of). If they are dubbing over her, then what was the point of have her play the part when it could of gone to a more deserving actress that speaks Chinese/Taiwanese.
Stupid iPod autocorrections.
Pin is supposed to be in and have is supposed ti be having.
Speaking of ToGetHer, Jiro Wang needs to be in something soon, something that expands his acting and challenges him ( seriously dude, Momo Love?) and with alot of half nakedness and steamy make-out/ sex scenes. Just saying.
What in the what now? I've seen this anime, and I've read some of this manga, and, well, random doesn't even begin to describe it, really. It's slapstick and zany and, while there is a conspicuous absence of amorous alligators (thank god), there is the utter and complete demolition of the fourth wall.
Gah. I don't know how to feel about this.
