I’ll be honest and confess that the single best scene in the first two episodes of 49 Days was when Min Ho opened that hotel room door and pulled In Jung inside, and the look of angst they gave each other. Until then, it was all people talking about feelings and emotions in order to set up the story proper, but nothing felt substantive to me. It was akin to watching a pretty picture that doesn’t move you.
But that final scene really upped the potential conflict, but not in a way that delineates good and evil. Min Ho and In Jung may be in the wrong, hence the guilt both seem to be carrying around, but it doesn’t make me hate either of them. With a cast of 6 leads, this show has so much potential and room for great plot development. This was one of them.
Written preview for episode 3:
Witnessing with her own eyes the secret meeting between Min Ho and In Jung, Ji Hyun runs outside with the thought of escaping the scene. She tightly grips the work resume documentation, and she dials the emergency button to summon the Scheduler. When he appears, Ji Kyung screams at the Scheduler to tell her the truth about her accident.
On the other hand, Han Kang finds Ji Kyung curled up in a ball outside his restaurant. Because she is still in shock and it is with respect to her fiancee, Ji Kyung can’t clearly explain to Han Kang what is wrong. She tightly holds on to the work resume documentation and collapses….
My thoughts:
$5 bucks that Han Kang meets Yi Kyung as early as episode 3. I think when Ji Kyung faints her spirit pops out and Yi Kyung is left inhabiting her own body. I am strangely excited to see Han Kang and Yi Kyung meet, because I have no clue what the dynamic will be.
This drama isn’t just about Ji Hyun getting a chance to come back, it’s also about how her mission brings the living people around her together and perhaps transforms their lives. In a way, leaving it open-ended as to whether Ji Hyun even wants to or needs to come back to life. See, I read one preview and get my hopes up again about 49 Days. I’m so easy to please. Plus, I’m loving how the drama is electing not to turn Min Ho and In Jung into manipulative or devious second leads. I’m totally wanting them to get their happy ending, and shed some genuine tears for Ji Hyun.

I think that is why I like the scriptwriter. She never made an evil antagonist. The antagonist have a reason to be one, like in Brilliant Legacy and Prosecutor Princess.
And I think there would be a bittersweet ending, instead of a real happy ending like My Princess. Just like her two drama before.
I still don't 'feel' this drama. I hope I can get it this week.
I fell this drama, and can't wait to connect more with the characters, it has been only two episodes and I'm so excited to know moew about them, also, I don't get this 'feel' you talk about, has so many dramas like this one that you don't say the same... for example I myself didn't connect with the main leads at Secret garden, they were too crazy and unreasonable to me connect... I connected more with Oska and the second girl.. lol
opsss I meant 'feel' :D
The previews sound really promising! Can't waitttt!
I think that Kang might end up falling for the real YK...hopefully leaving JK for hot-reaper-boy.
That's also what I have in mind. I like the reaper boy's expression whenever JH annoys him. So. Cute.
