Drunken to Love You Episode 8 Written Preview

I want everyone to just scream out loud – Song Jie Xiu, you are DAEBAK! Yeah, that felt great. Somewhere along the way, perhaps when Jie Xiu sketched his first wild boar girl picture, this man showed us all what drama leading men can and ought to be, and not what we hope they can become after they meet the woman who changes them.

Drunken to Love You is so good at showing the falling in love developments between Jie Xiu and Xiao Ru, I almost take it for granted until I realize how special this OTP is. Jie Xiu is unwavering in trusting his own heart, and not a missing button or a misunderstanding matters to him. He’s said buh-bye to Avril, and now he’s just got to convince Xiao Ru to give love another chance. By the way, all the Taiwan websites are saying this drama is only 11 cups. Sobs, that’s just too short. *wahhhhh, I need moar*

Written preview for cup 8 of DTLY:

With each successive heartbreak, Jie Xiu has completely lost faith in Avril. With each successive comfort and companionship, Jie Xiu is genuinely falling for Xiao Ru. Right when the two of them can move forward, Xiao Ru unexpectedly receives a present from Yi Xian. Having decided to give up on Yi Xian, Xiao Ru cannot accept the generous present and returns it to him. Which is when she discovers why Yi Xian originally left her.

Xiao Ru discovers Jie Xiu being sexually harassed by another female guest. She steps forward to “beat the witch and save her husband”. This leads Xiao Ru to fall into yet another danger. Even knowing that she and Jie Xiu are over, Avril’s heart cannot help but drift back to Jie Xiu.

At a family gathering, Meng Jun accidentally reveals the mystery of the button to Jie Xiu. At the same time, Meng Jun and Xiao Ru’s private conversation, which is overheard by Jie Xiu, leads him to believe that when he was drunk, could it be that he and Xiao Ru “played so hard they played out a new life together?”

If love can be weighed, Xiao Ru, Jie Xiu, Avril, and even Yi Xian, can they find the person who they love the most, and who can bring them the most happiness?

  • 11 episodes only?? Thats too short! Even Hi, my sweetheart was 14 or something. Not Fair!!! Btw, what are the ratings like? Have they hit 5?

    • No the ratings haven't reached 5 yet. Episode 7 ratings was 4.18.

But regarding the number of episodes... viki says 13. One of my Chinese friends said that they read it as 20 somewhere lol. I don't know what's going on with the amount of episodes lol.

  • Ow ow ow.yup JX is the right lead.like it.now its XR time to settle her feelings for YX.

  • I have always liked the male actor, Zhang Xiao Quan (if i got the name right) potraying Jie Xu ever since I saw him in his first drama (18 sui de yue ting) with Ariel Lin, and always thought that he is of leading male material. Finally, it has taken the taiwanese market a good number of years before he starred as male lead and Jie Xu is by far, my favourite.

I like his chemistry with Rainie Yu and it has been such pleasure watching the steady and realistic progress of the on-screen couple in this drama. But what, only 11 cups... that is really quite short for a taiwanese drama.. I mean channel x, which was a tragic road-accident, even made it beyond 15 episodes.

    • Please. Never talk about Channel X. Ever. *sobs, my poor Joe, sobs*

DTLY finished filming 3 weeks ago. So no matter how long the drama ends up being, it's not getting extended regardless of how high the ratings go. I like that.

      • I know what you mean.. poor joe.

It's good that the drama filming has ended, although i hope they have not filmed alternate endings. Hate when they do that.
I checked out the official blog for total no of episodes (http://blog.iset.com.tw/drunk/) but also could not find a confirmed amount, although idol drama series at 三立电视台 often numbered between 15-20 episodes, on average.

  • What exactly do you think he means when said "played so hard they played out a new life together?"

    • It's a play-on sentence that was very hard for me to translate.

At the end of episode 5, beginning of 6, JX and XR are in the hotel room and a box of sex toys were delivered by his boss. XR takes it out and says it shouldn't go to waste, and JX says sure, "I'll play with you, I'll play with you as hard as you want."

So the preview sentence is JX wondering if they played so hard at the resort, they created a new life together, i.e. a baby.

The Chinese have a saying "play so hard you take a life" to mean doing something so irresponsible that results in someone's accidental death. This sentence is the opposite of that phrase, to play so hard to make a new life.

      • ockoala, do you mind if I ask if you are Korean or Taiwanese? Seems like you have a lot of linguistic talents! I'm a kdrama person but your recaps for DtLY are just too engaging...I'm hooked! haha. Thanks for the spoilers.

  • I'm sad that it's only 11 too but it seems to be right. At this rate, JX already made up his mind to get over Avril, so there are not many conflicts left to keep our OTP to get together.

Though i heard confirmations saying that it's 13.

What ever happened to Xiao Gui storyline being XH's orphanage friend that would come in later. Please don't cut it out! :(
I wish the story would be more complicated like Sunny Happinness so it would be longer. Too short.sigh:(

  • My understanding is that they're 13 episode, but to be honest, I don't mind it being short.

  • I just want them to be together, giving them a new shot at love, creating a new exciting life, being there for each other, accepting the good, the bad and even the ugly of themselves and getting a LOT of love, comprehension, support!!

  • ockoala, remember when you translated the spoilers for the second half of DTLY last month? I mean do you think all of that plot can fit into the remaining episodes without feeling rushed (assuming there really are 11 total)? Maybe I'm just not creative enough, I can't imagine it all fitting lol.

    • Those spoilers were unverified, and I said so in the post. I can't find a definitive statement about the drama length so it can be 11 or 13.
