The tail end of 2011 for Korean dramas looks to be all about the cable networks. OCN has Vampire Prosecutor with Yeon Jung Hoon which is getting solid reviews for it’s edgy style, and shortly tvN will be debuting it’s first teen-targeted drama with Flower Boy Ramyun Shop starring Jung Il Woo. jTBC has the heavyweight Noh Hee Kyung-penned Padam Padam: The Sound of His and Her Heartbeat, starring Jung Woo Sung and Han Ji Min, which is slated to premiere in early December. Today the backstreet chatter dropped another major K-movie star getting lured back to the small screen.
The upcoming race-car drama Speed for CSTV (Chosun TV) is rumored to be close to signing Lee Jung Jae for its lead. Funny enough, Speed is slated to go up against Padam Padam, which will pit these two best friends against each other for ratings. No biggie for me. I love them both and can’t wait to see if Lee Jung Jae confirms this project. Also rumored to co-star in Speed is Yoo Ah In. Since Jung Woo Sung gets Kim Bum as a sidekick, so Lee Jung Jae gets Yoo Ah In? Niiiiiice.
The reason there are so many cable dramas dropping lately is because there is a recent line of cable networks gearing up for an end of the year launch. Cable dramas are typically more adult fare, and can deliver the quality that are mostly missing with primetime dramas recently. In fact, the best K-drama I watched last year was tvN’s Joseon X-Files.
I’m super excited about the Lee Jung Jae and Yoo Ah In combination, if it does pan out. Word is that both are nearly a done deal and are just awaiting confirmation from all parties. I don’t recollect K-dramas doing a racing drama before, but if both Lee Jung Jae and Yoo Ah In sign on, I’m definitely watching it. Just don’t let it be another dud of a thriller, since there have been so many out of Korea lately.

OMG this just made my day.....Im a YAI fan..if you could tell by my avatar....finally hes back on the small screen, Ive missed him so much
Cant wait to hear my about this
That is, cant wait to hear more about this
If I remember correctly, Speed's a Turkey-Korean joint production which was supposed to be filmed/released 5 years ago, starring Lee Seo Jin, Lee Da Hae and rumored Kim Myung Min. It was almost a done deal (as LDH had prepared quite a bit for her role) back then but got shelved in the end due to financial problems. Gone were my dreams to see my girl work with 2 great actors. Sighs.
But now that Lee Jung Jae and YAI are probably going to be in this, my interest has perked up a bit.
Isn't it OCN's Vampire Prosecutor? But I hope Yoo Ah In is in it!!
I want to know which lucky actresses get to star with this pair!
I love Lee Jung Jae and YAI together can make a pretty bad a## team. I hope we don't have to watch a lot of cars, though. Cars do nothing for me. All I can think is, "They must be using a lot of gas."
Please let them both sign for this drama and it be a GOOD sport drama.
I believe Korea did do a racing theme drama in the early 90s called The Dream Racers.
The irony is that this drama starred heavyweights Lee Young Ae, Lee Byung Hun and (catch this) Jung Woo Sung:

i was just gonna mention that! it was my 2nd or 1st lee byung hun drama, and he was so, so hot in it :D great drama!

Say who and who....i am so in.....now plz be good drama
Yoo Ah In! As long as it is him, I'll watch it!
man cable's been getting a lot of the heavy hitters, casting top notch actors....maybe the big 3 will take note and stop casting idol actors
