Written and Video Preview for Episode 10 of Nice Guy

When watching the last scene of episode 9 of Nice Guy, I’m once again struck by Lee Kyung Hee‘s preparation for this drama. Details from previous scenes reemerge in new ways to move the story forward, and the PD knows just how much flashback and when to use it judiciously to heighten the mood without making us feel like morons. Despite all the preparation put into the big twist of making Eun Gi an amnesiac with a complicated history with Maru, in many ways she’s still the same person. I thought cold and prickly Eun Gi always said whatever the hell she was thinking, much like a child, and memory-less Eun Gi is the same way because she is quite literally a child again. But this time she’s a child without emotional baggage, which makes it even more curious that Maru triggers a sense of the familiar with her. I wonder what would have happened had the injury been switched around, and it was Maru who lost his memory. That would have been a kindness for his plight in my mind, a way for him to shed all his shame and pent up rage so that he could live life starting with the basics again. To have Eun Gi become the so-called damsel in distress makes it easy for Maru to fall back into his knight-in-shining-armor role that he used to play with Jae Hee. Perhaps its the only role he knew how to play growing up taking care of Choco and then Jae Hee. But leading a twisted life lately has made him so damaged I’m not sure he could ever have the emotional capacity to accept Eun Gi in any incarnation. Maybe the drama is about Maru saving her and in the process saving himself from further depredation, but the ultimate ending isn’t one where love is part of the equation. Just some food for thought, though my preference and gut feeling tells me Maru isn’t so lost that he can’t be saved, nor is Eun Gi all that in need of saving. Can’t wait for episode 10, so bring it on Nice Guy!

Written preview for episode 10 of Nice Guy:

The former tough and cold Eun Gi is gone forever and Maru finds it hard to believe Eun Gi is the childish innocent woman standing before him. He acts harsh with her to force her to leave. Jae Hee continues her silent battle to erase all traces of Eun Gi and kill off the hopes of those who think she will return. Eun Gi is devastated that the man she knows she loved, Kang Maru, is pushing her away. Maru’s heart is also heavy when he thinks about Eun Gi. Jae Hee’s brother notices Eun Gi and plots to use Eun Gi as a bargaining chip against Jae Hee.

Preview for episode 10:

Jae Hee: Let’s discuss the resolution to strip Tae San Group Representative Seo Eun Gi of her position.

Maru: Why me?

Eun Gi’s secretary: Because you are the only one Eun Gi trusted and loved.

Maru: In love with each other? Who? You can’t mean us?

Eun Gi: My heart remembers you.

Jae Hee’s brother: So all I need to do is not let that lady return to Tae San Group?

Eun Gi: Can we return to the past?

Jae Hee: I must be. It has to happen.

Eun Gi: Who are you?

Ms. Koala. Yeah, seems like it is. Initial thought on the preview threw me away but it seems our Eun Gi is not the helpless kind at all. She's the cleaner version of her 'tough' self.

  • Awesome so now is EunGi's time for Maru to protect her against JH and her brother since it's seems to me that JH is planning something really evil against EunGi!!

I really hope this time Maru do things right, and that way he will be able to me a man EunGi deserve! ^^

Please no more JH & Maru scenes at last they haven't seen each other for a year, please Maru don't become the old maru all over again with JH

  • You know what I'm excited the most? When Eun Gi regains her memory. As much as I don't want Maru to play the emotionally damaged knight in shining armor, it seems like the drama is going that route so I'll stick with it as long as they give us some happy moments between these two...I'm really easy to please. :D

But what happens when Eun Gi remembers everything? That's the Eun Gi that I can't wait to see. I'm excited because it will be a combination of old and new Eun Gi and hopefully she will call Maru out on his bullshit and noble idiocy just like how she called him out at the beach -- only this time, Maru will not push her away. I just want someone to get through Maru's head that he needs to stop punishing and torturing himself for the mistakes that he made in the past and move on from there. Love yourself a little more, Maru-ya..so you can give Eun Gi the love she deserves.

Anyways, like you said Koala, we can speculate all we want but at the end of the day, Show will continue to surprise us all. I just really hope that Maru will not die in the end because that will just be too cruel.

  • thank you, thank you and a lot more thanks. another dose of Maru hotness. and anticipating where EG's amnesia will lead Maru. :}

  • hoho....
yoir posting made me more curious now.
I can feel that it will be sad ending :(
    oh no.........
hope the writer will give us some surprises at the end later.

    • Yes ... it is NICE GUY ... so he again give his all for the woman he loves... 2nd time a more worthy candidate, Eun Gi.

Feel sad already ... but ship has set-sail & i'm on it for 9 episode :(
