Written and Video Preview for Episode 9 of Missing You

Why does Jung Woo keep getting all grabbity with Soo Yeon? Seriously writer? Why the need to make him so physically aggressive towards her? I think one huge problem I have with this drama is that it insists on making Jung Woo the POV character when really it ought to be Soo Yeon. Sigh. I just watched the preview for episode 9 of Missing You and it starts off with Jung Woo grabbing Soo Yeon by the shoulders and pretty much getting all in her face. Even if she is a suspect and he has an arrest warrant as a cop, I still content his continued breaching their physical space without her explicit consent is totally such a turn-off. And no, her petty and short-lived revenge plan (which included flirting and taunting him), in no way gives him license to behave the way’s he’s suddenly turned into around her. Even if he suspects she’s Soo Yeon, which actually makes it worse that he’s got no sense of what’s in her best interests, i.e. letting her choose how to approach him. I don’t hate Jung Woo, I simply dislike his recent uncharacteristically confrontational behavior with a woman he suspects is his long-lost teenage love who was raped before his eyes.

I’ve watched tons of K-dramas where the male lead exhibits the same behavior patterns as Jung Woo, and it didn’t bother me nearly as much there because the subtext between Jung Woo and Soo Yeon are so different from other K-drama OTPs that deal with the “I hate you” dance for a few episodes before admitting they are in love. I don’t recall a heroine suffering from PTSD and being a victim of rape. I feel for Jung Woo’s issues, living in intense guilt is a terrible way to live life, but when compared to the shit Soo Yeon’s gone through, his issues pale in comparison by a long shot and I wish he were more considerate of her feelings and needs. With that said, looks like Soo Yeon’s about to become a suspect in the death of her rapist, which is clearly not piling on to this girl’s entire life filled with external woe. Part of me is so glad she went away with Hyung Joon, because she got to live a great life that was peaceful and without her burden of her scars. But that’s not a long term solution and now she’s got to face her ghosts and resolve many things left unfinished, whether its with her mom or with Jung Woo. Poor Hyung Joon’s gonna have to get use to living with just him and that cane pretty soon.

Written preview for episode 9:

This time I won’t miss the chance again!

Jung Woo confirms Soo Yeon’s identity from the CCTV and feels immense guilt and apology for not protecting her before. Soo Yeon is officially a suspect in the murder of the rapist, which leads her to remember the past and she starts to shake uncontrollably…..

Preview for episode 9:

Jung Woo: You are being arrested as a suspect in the death.

Hyung Joon: What are you doing!

Soo Yeon: If I’m really Lee Soo Yeon, you’re the first person I would kill.

Hyung Joon: Let’s go home.

Jung Woo: I don’t care if you kill me, as long as you’re Lee Soo Yeon.

  • sigh.. can't Wednesday came faster.can't wait to watch episode 9. still hope hyung joon - soo yeon have their moments.

  • i dont care if you kill me, as long as you are lee son yon?????

    Omo

cant he even one minute please behave and consider LSY feelings even 100& not sure when he is in front of HER???

  • thanks for the preview dear koala! ^_^b

well,,i agree with u,,i dont like his grabbing or his obsessive style to zoe...take it easy dude!where's ur manner anyway?? :p
okey,,u've been missing her for a very very long time..ur life is miserable too with ur big guilty..but things cannot be changed and healed easily like that..

fiuhh...this drama's really killing me! ToT

  • Ok I know she's been through horrible things, but running away is not the answer. She has a family that has been waiting for her for 14 years. reminds me of Maru-oppa in CYHMH how he chose to run away but eventually he came back.

    • And about HJW being agressive, I wouldn't call it that in the first place. Lee Soo Yeon is being a coward, she needs a wake up call, like cold water in the face telling her to be courageous, and she was when she was 15, even when everyone called her a murdere's daughter she was never weak. This quality faded away not only because of the rape but also because of Harry. She needs to be Lee Soo Yeon, Zoey is just an illusion that Harry has created.

      • Must JW be aggressive to wake SY up? Especially when he knows that she is a rape victim. She was even raped in front of him, so shouldn't he be the most cautious person around her in bringing back her painful memories? Yes, SY needs to face it to be able to move on and heal properly, but as the person who knows best about what happen to SY and witness it with his own eyes, I expect him to interact with her with more understanding and compassion. JW in the past was attentive and sweet towards her, so why is he suddenly so forceful now with her.

Like someone commented in the last episode recap, instead of being so pushy with her, if he really cares about her, he should ask about her well-being and her feeling first. Even if SY didn't want to admit her real identity, he can just talk to SY like she is the third person. Tell her 'I want to say sorry to SY, I want to tell her that her mother, the detective and me had been searching for her, I want to help her heal etc'. That way, they can clear the misunderstanding faster. But of course, this drama will want to drag this issue further.

I know the grabbing thing has been like a trend in kdrama but it's different here with SY being a rape victim and clearly shows her discomfort and keep asking him to stop.

      • I see you point...but why does LSY need a wake up call because there is a individually out there that is so guilty and needs to relieve his guilt? Seriously?! And what makes you think that Zoe is just an illusion? LSY is never going to be the innocent and kind child she used to be because of the horrors she went through. Even if she heals she will not be the same person. She has become a designer out of her own merit and maybe the only surreal part of her life is her relatioship with Harry. What else do you call an illusion?

I also want her to face her fears but I refuse to accept the ways people want her to facet these fears. Sorry...

      • Zoe is an illusion? Seriously!?!?! So what about her designing talent? Or her fame in France? That was all an illusion!

When people deal with traumatic situations you don't get to tell them how they should undergo the healing process. You don't get to tell a rape victim she is being weak just because you think she should be over her trauma. She needs to it by herself at her own pace.

      • We must also remember that not only is she a rape victim but from how things are looking now she is also a murderer. IMO, I think Jung Woo's 'violence' is really his frustration at seeing what kind of person she has become. From being innocent and guileless to this twisted mess before him who would flirt and entice him on a date and never show up and now based on the evidence before him, is also be capable of killing a man. In addition, I think with this kind of drama, it's really pointless to debate about the personality, actions and reactions of the characters since they've personally experienced very dark and very complicated things that shaped them into the person they are now. We may try to judge the actions they take as illogical/insensitive/aggressive/barbaric/etc but that doesn't mean they're improbable.

  • Poor Hyung Joon! Can't do anything physically even if he wants to. He will be the real casualty in this debacle between HJ & SY.

How can we blame the guy for turning to the dark side (though he will be in good company with BATMAN)

  • I think hyung joon killed the rapist. Seems like he'll do anything to protect soo yeon. It cant be her because that'll be too obvious.

  • The drama is tolerable though i can't help being skeptical in the first place but i m just simply annoyed by Yoo Seung Ho trying so hard to be an adult and passionate lover and agitated that YEH can't seem to keep her lips together and close her mouth.

    • Hmm, be concious of what you are saying. Don't be upset when fans of YEH and YSH start answering your comments. You will have asked for it! You are free to say what you like but keep in mind the consequences your comment can bring!

Just giving you a heads up.

  • well, I guess all the characters here are annoying actually. Jung Woo is my favorite character so far, he's the only one without dark-evil clouds in his mind, though sometimes he's so damn frustrating, even for me, Yoochun's biggest fan. LOL
I think I don't like Soo Yeon's character a lot right now, I know with all that dark past and Hyung Joon is the one who's accompanying her all the time. But seriously what do you want?
If you want to live as Zoe, than live as Zoe thoroughly, don't bother Jung Woo at first place. If you want revenge, than planned it well, and get your revenge to Jung Woo. Or you can go option number three, come clean about who you are, and say it clearly to Jung Woo that you don;t want to see him anymore, since she's happy with her life right now.
I think the reason why Jung Woo behave like an idiot so far is because Soo Yeon didn't really choose what she wants.
And as for Hyung Joonie, poor Joonie.. I know he wants revenge for his mother, and maybe for Nurse Hye Mi too, at least he comes all planned to take revenge. I found his character is interesting though.
But then, what I'm curious about is how and what will Soo Yeon do, when she knows that Nurse Hye Mi was the one behind the kidnapping, and Hyung Joon is the one behind Cop Ahjussi dead.
Thanks for the preview by the way :)

  • By the way, I read your Ep8 recap Koala, and I'm wondering why HJ put the necklace on SY. That key pendant necklace is the one that his mom gave to take the money from the Swiss Bank right? So, wouldn't it put SY's life in danger if Han Tae Joo finds out..
