Latest Stills and Previews for Episode 7 of Jang Ok Jung, Live in Love

There are a bunch of new stills for Jang Ok Jung, Live in Love, and below I’ve translated the short written preview and linked to the latest video preview for episode 7. Seeing Ok Jung in the bath or the image of Lee Soon doing a manly grab of Ok Jung doesn’t strike me as a sensationalized ratings grab, because at this point this drama probably doesn’t have anything to prove anymore in terms of turning around the domestic disfavor towards it. I would rather that it focus on its original trajectory and intent and let the final product stand the test of time. Ratings be-damned, what is the drama that people will talk about and remember long after its run? Kim Tae Hee is really the revelation here, much like Hong Soo Hyun turned the corner in The Princess’s Man. She’s not quite at mind-blowing performance level that Hong Soo Hyun pulled off in TPM, but Kim Tae Hee is bringing it in a way that is very aware of her own limitations and taking it slowly. She’s not trying too hard, and in the process she’s doing her best. In the stills above, her expression is actually what captivates me. She actually looks…..aware, engaged, and interacting with whatever is happening in that scene. She’s not just a pretty actress posing, and that is the first step in acting towards forgetting there is a camera trained on you and just performing a scene. I’m not dying for the romance between Ok Jung and Lee Soon to start in earnest, with any forbidden Palace trysts or romantic moonlight walks. I keep getting eye-rolling flashbacks to the elementary school level romance in The Moon Embraces the Sun, where the OTP suffered and wallowed in their thwarted love while forgetting there was a country to govern and other more important things in life. Here I feel like all the political machinations remain at the forefront of both Lee Soon and Ok Jung’s mind, so that when they see each other the attraction and tension is palable, but it remains but a part of their greater purpose in life.

Written preview for episode 7:

Lee Soon orders the execution of Prince Boksun who tried to stage a coup. On the other hand, Jang Hyun pays a visit to Minister Jo to try and ascertain whether Lee Soon and Ok Jung might have feelings for each other, looking to pave a road through the Great Dowager Queen. But……

  • .... I'm glad it seems before in kyeong, dies there is her real moment with her husband..... It seems ok jung's presence really help open lee soon's eyes about his queen.... That she is sincere to married with him, without any political advantages purpose.

    • Thank goodness! I pretty much gave up on this drama after seeing Lee Soon be so cruel to In Kyung. She doesn't deserve it at all, considering it's he who married her, not she actively pursuing him. She may have fallen in love with him, but that's something else all together. It in fact actually makes things worse.

  • Can't wait for tonight's ep, can't wait for the OTP romance to blossom and can't wait to read your recap tomorrow, thanks Ms Koala.

  • It's going to be a very tough rough ahead. And I am also wondering where CS is?? (even after ep 7!!) Hoping for ep 8.

When I saw these stills, I immediately thought, uh oh. If they are giving us these photos, then I know it's only foreshadowing something bad. As we know, it's not going to be candies and cupcakes between our OTP.
