Written and Video Preview for King Flower Episode 19

I said SETTV probably put Chao Chun Ya in a time out last week for accidentally (purposely?) leaking a page from the script, but I think he deserves a flogging. It has caused a ripple effect across King Flower fandom and now the viewers resemble a bunch of zombies lurching away just waiting for the inevitable apocalypse to finish us off. *moar brains* Or more accurate its like a balloon has been popped, so that the hope that Da Hua would grow a consciousness and see the loser that is Guan Jun (and her childish love for him) versus the man that is Terry (and all the flutters he gives her) has been dashed away. I was so addicted to KF it was sad, but now I feel like what’s the point of the network continuing to give Terry all the screen time and interactions with Da Hua only to have them go all the way to the alter before she books it for douchebag Guan Jun. This week’s written preview is hilarious because there are only pictures of Terry! I almost want KF to put me and Terry out of our misery so that we can run away to an island paradise and leave the circus of idiots and freaks behind.

I think the drama really did Da Hua a HUGE disservice in writing her as so inexplicably in love with Guan Jun. Now I’ve lost all patience and goodwill for her, when really she is a sweet girl and there is a reason Terry fell in love with her so naturally and sincerely. Da Hua and Guan Jun’s interactions are tone-deaf and clueless as to how human beings thinks, feel, and interact with each other. I respect Da Hua’s right to love the person she wants, but its impossible to accept it when she’s faced with non-entity Lin Guan Jun and man’s man Ouyang Tai? Why would a person want to eat from the pig trough as opposed to fine dining? I know I’m harsh, but that’s because SETTV is being ridiculous in using Terry to get viewers to turn in and then shoving Da Hua’s obsession with Guan Jun down our throats and incredulously asking us to look at Guan Jun decision to push Da Hua away as noble sacrifice. I feel like the fire has been extinguished in the last week and all that is left is watching the embers flicker while remembering the warmth and wonder that is Terry still being his awesome self while everyone else lives in LaLa-land.

Written preview for episode 19:

Da Hua gets very sick because of being in the rain and is hospitalized. She waits and waits, but she does not get a visit from Guan Jun. Conversely it’s Ouyang Tai, he gets the best doctor for Da Hua and stays by her side carefully taking care of her. The two of them keep each other company at the lowest point in their lives. Will Da Hua be able to clearly see this very precious and hard-to-come-by destiny, will she be able to treasure this man before her who gives her his real heart?

Guan Jun keeps insisting on the sibling relationship to draw the lines between him and Da Hua, causing the mood in the family to be awkward. Guan Jun’s cold words and harsh attitude hurts Da Hua over and over again. This time Da Hua finally makes the decision to let it go. Let herself off the hook this time and let others off the hook and stop being sad around her.

Da Hua loses Guan Jun and feels like the entire world has abandoned her. Even though everyone around her encourages her and supports her, she keeps feeling empty and depressed. She asks herself “Can I still find happiness?” At this time, happiness creeps up to her. Terry takes out an engagement ring and he wants to make a vow before God to give this girl happiness using the rest of his life. Will Da Hua accept Terry and receive this other happiness that belongs to her?

Previews for episode 19:

“Guan Jun, goodbye.”

Ah Xi: Da Hua is sick and in the hospital, and she still calls out your name when she’s unconscious. Do you know that?

Guan Jun: Unconscious?

Xiao Fei: Managing Director.

Guan Jun: I’m afraid I can’t hide my feelings, then all that I did earlier will go to waste.

Da Hua: I just want you to look at me and tell me that you don’t love me. Then I won’t bug you anymore. Guan Jun oppa, goodbye.

“Are you willing to let me make you happy?”

Terry: Can you tell me how to get to Room 1907? Da Hua, you are sick and in the hospital, why didn’t you tell me? Let me take care of you, I’ll feel more comforted that way. I will use the rest of my life, to treat you well, to love you. Are you willing to let me make you happy?

Terry worship 411:

KF fandom is 99.99999% Terry, and trust me when I say it didn’t start out that way. Most people tuned in for James Wen but are staying for Chris Wu. The protests and howls are outrage over how dense Da Hua is and how annoying Guan Jun’s behavior is in pushing her away lamely echoes the perception that the writer is really making Terry unnecessarily suffer because of how dumb and annoying the Da Hua-Guan Jun relationship is. Those two either have to get married or break up like adults, this childish push and pull is just making Terry have hope when in the end he’s going to get shafted anyway. A few choice comments:

“Is the writer Terry’s stepmother? Because she’s EVIL.”

“Lin Guan is such a loser even the word loser is embarrassed to be used on him.”

“If Da Hua stares at Terry with her giant eyes of mopeyness one more time, imma slap her silly.”

“There is not a single woman in the world that wouldn’t fall in love with Terry and out of love with Lin Guan Jun in this situation. The writer is like a unicorn.”

“I hope when Da Hua runs away from the wedding to Terry to find Guan Jun, she gets run over by a truck. Its only fair for Guan Jun to go through losing the woman he loves like Terry lost Liang Yen, and see how he deals with the grief. He’ll probably whine and quit his job and become a raging alcoholic. Too bad Da Hua will be so dead and unable to stick around and see it and realize belatedly how much awesome is in Terry.”

“I hate SETTV, they just dangle a Terry carrot in front of us while then slipping Guan Jun rancid meat on our plate. This is bait-and-switch.”

“I wish I could quit this stupid drama, but then I realized I can’t quit Terry.”

  • That last quote!!! OMG totally how I feel these days about this drama... sticking till the end for Terry, could care less about everyone else!

  • Hey Koala. Any idea what the ratings for episode 17 and 18 were?

I know you said in a prior post that the ratings for episode 16 (i.e., the Da Hua/Terry rain kiss) was the second highest of the season, but I was wondering if the ratings have gone down after that due to the writers pushing the Da Hua/GJ relationship down viewer's throats?

    • I think 1.6 and 1.7, so dropped from 16 but higher than 15. Eh, it doesn't matter, SETTV has given up promoting or caring about the ratings for this drama at this point.

  • Lol.The comments.They are hilarious.
It's not only the frustration with the ending. Why is the writer like that? What kind of rigid personalities do the writer and director have?I mean she's the writer?Doesn't she have the ability or talent to change a story?
    Far out....

    • I think the writer writes whatever the network producer wants the story to go. In this case, whatever to do right by lead actor James Wen........

  • Seeing that there is a King Flower update has turned into a tricky experience. On the one hand, I am so glad to be back with my friends to share the misery, but then I think, "wait, but I'm in misery. Why did I want to be here again?" This whole thing is like an accident that we know is going to happen, but we cannot do anything to stop it. And though we are usually sane, self-preserving people who would look away, here we just sidle up with a bowl of popcorn to watch. I cannot help it--it's like biting a split lip. This shows how much we love Chris Wu's Terry. I love the "The writer is a unicorn" comment; however, I always got the impression that unicorns would be for truth and love or at least smart people. But then again I am thinking Harry Potter unicorns not My Pretty Pony unicorns.

    • Ah, you know you love it! :-) A shared experience of misery is as unforgettable as a shared experience of bliss. Drama-wise, of course.

  • ROFL that's hilarious! Perfectly echoes our sentiments. Would be interesting to know what the actors think about all this.

    • The actors are all laughing BTS and think this is all a pile of horseshit. I don't know how Chris can be THAT amazing even in this situation.

  • I stopped watching this couple episodes ago when I found out that da hua is likely going to be with guan juan. no point in wasting my time, especially when i know terry is going to get hurt ;(

    • I dunno, there is a .01% chance she'll suddenly have an epiphany and realize she loves Terry.

  • LOL! The comments cheered me up. I've been feeling numb ever since I read about that leaked script and how it hints at Da Hua leaving Terry at the alter to for Guan Jun. I was beyond pissed, then went through denial state and now it's just numbness... but it helps to read that everyone are pretty much unanimous when it comes to beloved Terry!

    • I have SO MUCH fun reading the fan vitriol and frustration over this drama. Everyone loves Terry and hates Guan Jun (and lately Da Hua) so much. It's like reading my inner id come out.

  • What to say.......Honestly, I am just waiting for this drama to end. It is so frustrating to see how rigid the writer is with regards to the initial script. Terry definitely deserves better than Da Hua and all these bullcrap (excuse my language)

  • Haha! It's so true. The only problem with Da Hua being hit by a truck is that it would ruin Terry. It's sad when only one character matters in a show. Good on Chris Wu for being so amazing that he can't be stopped even by this trainwreck of a drama. Terry, ftw!

  • Okay, I don't know where I've been...but I have really been thinking this *whole* entire time that Terry was the male half of the OTP. Really? He isn't? What's up with that?!

    • you are not the only one... I marathoned this drama and now i'm waiting for the last few episodes, but i don't think i can handle actually watching them... maybe I should skip them and pick up ye olde fanfic pen and write my own ending with Terry as the main character... die guan jun, just die.
