Preview for Episode 20 of King Flower

I’ve going to miss writing about King Flower. The recaps while swooning over Terry, the venting over the narrative impasse and the emotional misdirections, the preview translations that give me hope only to dash it when the episode airs. It’s been an exhilarating roller coaster ride and I sure hope I don’t barf when I get off when it pulls into the station. I think the preview for episode 20 is either exactly what it seems on the surface, a feint for a total reversal at the end, or a little bit of both but maybe the ending will still be Da Hua-Terry. I really don’t know, trying to guess SETTV is like a blind man asked to describe a movie. There is another possibility considering the official powers to be have claimed the ending is super exciting (rolls eyes). There have been folks teasing that what if this is all Liang Yen’s dream and she wakes up not yet having gone on the hike and the ending is everyone back in their places. I hate deux et machina endings that say everything is one big dream because it just negates the entire point of the journey. But I think the dream ending is definitely a possibility, but I think odds are much higher that this is Da Hua’s dream, and not Liang Yen’s.

In episode 2 when Da Hua met gorgeous Liang Yen and handsome adoring Terry, she said to herself “I wish I could become her, wouldn’t that be wonderful?” and then later to Liang Yen she said “I wished I had a guy as handsome as your man.” The title of this drama is Jin Da Hua’s Extravagant Adventure, and the opening credits and ending credits ALL point to this being one big dream. Da Hua is choosing between two guys in the opening credits when her mom rips up her dreamscape and chases her off to work. She ends up in her room looking out of the window continuing her daydream. In the ending credits, she’s sleeping on a patch of grass and then she tosses a coin into a fountain to make a wish. Then her fairy Qin Mo appears to make her wish come true and she gets a make over from Terry and then later Guan Jun takes her to an amusement park to play. At the end Da Hua wakes up from her dream and looks into a crystal ball and there is Terry and Guan Jun. I’m not suggesting all signs point to a dream ending, I am merely pointing out that if it ends that way, perhaps the producers laid the clues all alone. Would anyone be upset if it turns out to be Da Hua’s dream but the ending is that Liang Yen is alive and Terry and her live happily ever after? I am so down with that, and could care less where Da Hua and Guan Jun end up in that scenario. I can’t believe I’m postulating the acceptance of normally lame ass dream endings.

I’m fairly certain the groom holding Da Hua’s hand is Terry. My guess is this is a scene with them taking outdoor wedding pictures, hence she’s in a different dress than at the wedding. But her hairstyle is similar to when she took wedding pictures with him at the studio pretending to be Liang Yen.

Preview for episode 20 of King Flower:

Da Li and Ah Xi: What? You and Da Hua are getting married?

Terry: Jin Mom, please trust me, I genuinely am in love with her.

Mom: If you’ve thought it through then Mom supports you. But can you really let go of Guan Jun?

Da Hua: Guan Jun oppa, Terry and I are getting married.

Xiao Fei: The person you love the most is getting married. And you agreed to be their groomsman!

Guan Jun: If I see Da Hua wearing a wedding dress walking towards me, I will be very happy as well.

Da Hua: Jin Da Hua! So many people love you, you have to be happy!

Guan Jun: Jin Da Hua, you have to be happy!

Xiao Fei: I can’t stand watching you sacrifice yourself to let others be happy.

Guan Jun: Let’s finish this show first.

Cheng Hong: Ladies and gentleman, please give your warmest applause for today’s male and female leads.

  • Oh finally... I can breath.. I know I'll never meet a Terry in my lifetime. So I promise myself to go get him. Gotta go...

  • I'm down for whatever ending has Terry happy. I could care less about Da Hua and Guan Jun. They can do whatever. I just want the last shot to be of Terry :D

  • if this was a dream then.....what a long, long dream it was! ENOUGH TO BE A 20 EPISODE DRAMA?! :))) Sigh.....if only I had those kind of dreams.... :( Anyways, I hope will have a very satisfying ending (crosses fingers)

  • I ABHOR dream endings. It completely takes the piss out of the whole thing. But like you, I will make the exception if it means Terry's happiness.

    • Same here. I have always disdained dream endings as a juvenile writer's cop-out - but for Terry's sake...to have him get the ending--and the girl--he deserves, I would not only let it slide, I would watch happily.

  • This show makes me laugh.
It's terrible how we'll take any ending that will leave Terry happy.

    • Haha! So true. I'm 99.99% sure this is going to have a lame ass ending and I don't care...as long as Terry is happy. He really is the only thing worth caring about in this whole mess.

  • the very least i care is what would happen to GJ... as long as perfect Terry ends up happy, i am so into it, in whatever shape and form.

and yes koala sis, it's Terry's jawline right there looking at DH. :)

  • I have bad feeling that DH will end up with GJ.

If so, those two inane idiots deserve each other and the writers need to get smacked on the head. Terry was too good for her anyway---I DESERVE TERRY! LOL!!! And if this was just DH's crazy dream, that'd be the lamest ending EVER! What a cop-out.

Anyway, I feel like no plot development has been happening ever since the Chairman found out the truth an that alone was very non-climatic. I think the producers are at a loss of what to do since Terry (Chris Wu's awesome acting) totally stole the show away from DH and GJ in the drama.

Well, whatever happens, I still want to smack DH on the head for loving her brother. They're not blood, but that's JUST NASTY! Lol!

    • No, in Taiwan there was a lot of adoptions after the war or re-marriages or combined families. There isn't a lot of stigma with a sister marrying an unrelated guy that she grew up with. And here Guan Jun didn't take the Jin family name so he wasn't officially adopted.

I do agree that whatever relevant plot evaporated for the GJ-DH moping show. With a lot of Terry awesomeness thrown in.

  • I watch KF exclusively for the Terry moments and pretty much just skip the rest. You know what after all this I don't want Da Hua to end up with Terry, she can have Guan Jun. She doesn't deserve Terry after all this, he has been with her through thick and thin and she is just "accepting" her faith and marrying him for the heck of it!!! GRRRRR so angry right now, Terry deserves someone who recognizes his love and kind spirit someone who will love him even more for it. Dear God I can't even remember a past drama that had such a spectacular character as Terry, Chris Wu is really amazing in portraying Terry, dude needs an award:).

    • Chris deserves an award for sure, but I doubt he'll get it. The GBs are notoriously anti- rich/goodlooking male characters from idol dramas.

    • Our Terry-fest reminds me of another character who just stood out for his all-around epicness: Boong-Do from Queen In-Hyun's Man.

      • Kim Boong Do. Good times, good times. If he somehow didn't make a deux et machina time-traveling cell phone call with a zero juice cell phone, then I would have loved him for all time.

  • I love all the fans of KF, some of the analysis and comments in the last few weeks have been hilarious or wonderfully profound.

This comment recently made me crack up. So true:

    所以如果Terry跟我求婚的話,我一定馬上、即時、立刻押他去戶政事務所辦登記,完全不給他機會反悔~當然婚戒要記得先收下來

If Terry proposed to me, I would immediately, right away, promptly dragged him to the registrar's office and register the marriage. He won't even have the chance to change his mind. And I'll hold on tight to the wedding ring first.

      • That's a girl who deserves to be cast with Terry instead of the lame people around him. I mean we all ralized a long time ago that the only person in this drama that might remotely deserve him died nearly ten episodes ago.

  • I haven't watched a single episode of this show Ms. Koala, but your recaps and Terry rants have certainly made me a huge Terry fan! I hope he gets the ending he so deserves.
