First Stills of Lee Sang Yeob and Hong Soo Hyun for Give Love Away

The first official stills are out for upcoming weekend family drama Give Love Away (Will You Love and Give it Away) airing on MBC in 4 weeks after I Summon You, Gold wraps up. I just have to give a shout out to ISYG – that drama be some of the craziest shit writing I’ve ever seen, akin to one of those over-the-top makjang dailies but somehow even more surreal. Luckily for Give Love Away, the PD here directed both Queen of Housewives and Queen of Reversals, and the screenwriter did City of Glass and Definitely Neighbors, and while all those dramas had problems none was batshit crazy so that is always a good place to start. Give Love Away might have the smallest quality shoes to fill of any K-drama taking over a timeslot from its predecessor. Starring Hong Soo Hyun, Lee Sang Yeob, Seo Ji Suk, Park Geun Hyung, Cha Hwa Yeon, Sin Da Eun, Kim Seung Soo, and Han Go Eun, this is a solid cast and everyone has weekend drama experience so can handle the 50-episode grind and the fortitude to withstand a probable latter half storyline melt down. I’m totally going to check it out for the cast and I like the OTP of Hong Soo Hyun and Lee Sang Yeob, but seeing this first stills totally shocked me because I’ve never seen these two side-by-side and does anyone else think they have remarkably similar faces? They could totally pass for siblings, if this was the cast for My Daughter Seo Young then these two should play the fraternal twin leads in that drama played by Lee Bo Young and Park Hae Jin who looked nothing alike. It’s not clear these two will end up together since their characters become legal step-siblings when their parents get married, plus Seo Ji Suk and Sin Da Eun play siblings that each like Hong Soo Hyun and Lee Sang Yeob, respectively. I’m so ready to wash the stench of ISYG from my memory, especially since GLA is about a family merging and learning to live together, and nowhere is any character described as amoral, mercenary, mentally deranged, or completely spineless, which is the totality of the denizens of ISYG.

  • As lame as it sounds, I always look for eye-candy first before decided whether or not to watch 50 episodes... lols..

  • I hope they are the OTP... I have been wondering since watching jang ok jung... Seeing the two in one screen together make me wish they are a couple in JOJ... And so glad when I found out they have working together even before JOJ.
I just want to look for at least the first episode....

  • They are small featured but that's about it. Unfortunately the more I look I see the eye shapes and lips being similar.

But oh dear, they look so pretty together I have to watch this.

ISYG- now who suckered me in? I am pretty sure it might have been you Ms Koala. Because I was totally not going to check it out until you posted something. That drama- seriously deserves to be shot down to pieces, have holes punched in the script- and it will still be better than what it is now. Am seriously peeved off with where the plot is derailing and where the OTP is derailing too. Even the cute maknae couple is enough to make me puke now that they have made them so unreal and saccharine sweet.

  • OMG. They look so adorable. I've always had a thing for Hong Soo Hyun since Lie to Me even when she played the annoying friend. Lee Sang Yeob looks YUM (although he normally does lol). 50 episodes is a long time to put in, I may just wait it out since I'm not dying to see it.

  • I haven't seen ISYG but smallest quality shoes to fill?? Does that mean this is the worse drama you've seen? Wowzers.

Anyway, I stay away from weekend dramas unless they start making ones like 'brilliant legacy' or 'secret garden' where they're not more than 20-30 episodes. But nowadays we have empress ki and GOF which are way too long for a weekday drama. Not a fan of this cast though, so ill skip. If it happens to be amazing, ill just catch up later.

  • i'll definitely check this out for both hong soohyun and lee sangyeob. can they please be the OTP? althought he whole legal step sibling thing might get weird lol.

  • Damn! I forgot about the whole step-sibling thing. I love these two and think they could totally rock as an OTP. I gotta say that I find it way less squicky to think of step-siblings falling in love if they weren't raised as siblings. Me and my fast-forward button will definitely be watching this. :)

  • Is it illegal to marry a step sibling in Korea? I know it is not in the U.S. I have a friend whose mother married her father in law about 10 years after she was married. There is nothing illegal about it here in the U.S.
