Written and Video Previews for Episode 21 and 22 of Weekend Drama Scandal

I can’t say whether more people will check out Scandal: That Very Shocking and Immoral Incident simply because I wrote that I quite liked it. But from the preview and new stills released, I hope more people do because this drama is upping the romance which has been the one element put on the backburner what with all the murder investigations and lost son searching going on. I didn’t miss it, but I’m sure not going to look a gift horse in the mouth when it’s placed before me. This drama is likely going to become my favorite performance from either Kim Jae Won or Jo Yoon Hee. I wouldn’t say they have good chemistry, it’s passable at most, but their characters are just so wonderful and easy to like and root for. I really love their genuinely caring and slow burn relationship development, one that feels like its heading towards something forever and always so why the rush. Jo Yoon Hee was her usual annoying chirpy self when she first showed up, but the second her poor fiancee died her character settled down quite nicely and she’s now carved a place for herself in this drama full of heavy hitters as a nice calming influence. It’s rare that I like characters in makjang dramas since characters are usually required to be over the top and ridiculous to make it plausible they would generate all that crazy behavior. But Scandal doesn’t have that at all and its a nice twist to see characters toiling about their everyday lives but living really incredible circumstances. Poor kidnapped Eun Joong was about to take a bullet from his real daddy Tae Ha while his fake daddy Myung Geun rushed to stave off a truly horrendous event where father unwitting kills son. I still feel bad for fake Eun Joong (Man Bok) because he totally was a victim in this entire unholy mess, but his behavior since finding out has been disappointing and selfish to say the least. What I’m looking forward to the most is Eun Joong’s reunion with his mother Hwa Young – these two’s relationship was the only completely innocent and untainted part and Hwa Young’s utter devastation has been nothing short of heartbreaking to watch. Of course Eun Joong isn’t going to die despite the cliffhanger at the end of episode 19, but reading the written preview and seeing the new stills ratchets up my excitement that the aftermath of the truth coming out will be just as interesting as this drama has been up until now.

Written preview for episode 21:

Tae Ha screams that Myung Geun is the kidnapper who took his son, and aims his gun at Eun Joong’s heart. Myung Geun sees this and loudly screams “Eun Joong is your son!”, and then Eun Joong loses consciousness. Tae Ha summons Man Bok (fake Eun Joong) before him and tells him to call him “Chairman” from now on…….

Written preview for episode 22:

Eun Joong thinks about Myung Geun and Tae Ha and endures a very painful period. Ah Mi takes care of Eun Joong during this time. Tae Ha orders Myung Geun to bring Eun Joong’s identity registration to the local government bureau and get a death certificate for “Ha Eun Joong”. He also gives Man Bok a new identity registration and says that it must’ve been hard on him being Jang Eun Joong all these years…..

  • Thank you for the update! Another drama I would like to check out, based on your last thread about this drama.

  • Is this drama really that good?
Because first of all I dont like the title.
"Scandal: bla bla bla", it's like they're trying extra hard to put every extreme words to make this drama look so good or anything
It's too much for me, but I like kim jae won.
So 1-5,how many star u'll give to this drama?

    • You're gonna missed out on a good drama. I think you should give this drama a try and if you don't like it, you can just drop it...

    • It's not bad. I was avoiding it because of the whole plot line. But this drama has actually turned out to be actually more logically written according to the plot. Then compared to YTBLSS and ISYG. Both of which I followed.

And of these 3, surprisingly this is the one where I am not screaming at the screen. Not to say it's not makjang but it's written and it makes sense within the plot.

Plus seriously this is the most serious KJW role I've seen him play and am surprised how much I like him serious looking instead of being his usual smiling too nice guy lead.

    • I wouldn't rate it just yet, it's only slightly more than halfway done. It's a solid 3.5 as of now, which is very high since the other weekend dramas like ISYG is a .5 and GoM is a 1. So take it as you will. I think this is one of those rare weekend dramas that is dramatic without being insulting to the viewer.

      • Totally agree with you. This is a rare weekend drama. It was well written and surprising all the actors portrayed their characters to the max level and you couldn't help but to watch them with so much anticipation.

    • The title is awkward because the was already a past drama or movie with the title 'Scandal' so it had to have a differentiating subtitle to it.

Regardless, i have found it to be interesting from ep 1. The cast is doing a great job with all the characters n the tension n pace of plot is also good.

    • Yes it is that good. The drama is not extreme even though it lives up to it's title but the storyline is gripping and makes sense. To see SEK and JJH are also a bonus. We are now in the next half of the drama and I think the drama will even get better. Kim Jae Won also rocks in this drama and is giving his best performance, so if you like him this is a must see

  • Kim Jae Won performance on this drama was amazing. I really love the development of events and the plot was well written.

I hope they keep it up... So far, this is one of the best weekend drama i watch.

  • Thanks for posting. I am really looking forward to the reveal episode 21.

I might be hard-hearted and judgmental but I have no sympathy for Jang Tae Ha. I'm glad he shot his son. I hope there is some doubt about Ha Eun Joong survival for a while [but he must live] so the Jang Tae Ha know how it feels being helpless to stop your son's suffering or his son death. And it can't really hurt that much since he doesn't know Ha Eun Joong, and what he know of him he dislikes. Being kidnapped [which I'm not advocating for] probably gave Ha EJ a chance to be a decent person allowing him to grow up away from Jang TH poison.

The true victims her is Ha EJ's mother. T__T

    • @Yuuni , i think you are disregarding Ha Eun Joong feeling.. how much pain do you think would he feel realizing he was kidnap and his bio dad just shot him and almost killed him.

There are of victims on this series but among them , the most painful one and who got the worst and deepest wound was Ha Eun Joong.. it's not his Mom.

Actually if his Mom was sane enough , she should have stop her mistake right away at that time she realize her son was alive. But unfortunately she didn't. What ever pain she encountered through out the years it was her fault and she brought it upon herself. She also contribute on HEJ suffering.

      • This is a matter of perspective.

I would much rather be brought up by a "principled, upright" kidnapping false father [an oxymoron if there ever was one] than a murderous, immoral, soulless, entitled, corrupt, remorseless, psychopath, dna donor.

Right now if I was HEJ I would be worried that JTH psychopathy might have hitched a ride on dna and be laying in wait to manifest in me. That would be my only fear.

And I know from whence I speak.

HEJ adoptive/child-snatching father did not cause JTH-his psychopathic dna-donor dad to shoot HEJ. JTH lack of conscience, lack of moral scruples, and his being a moral degenerate cause him to shoot his own son trying to get revenge on a man whose son he murdered to increase his profits.

It is painful to HEJ because the person he put all his faith in since childhood, the person who has been his moral compass has betray him. It means that the foundation HEJ's identity has been shaken. I expect him to be in pain knowing that his life has been a lie. But his life hasn't been a lie. The legalities and documents are lies, but the emotions and connections are real.

  • Finally, KJW is getting the recognition he deserves..... I too love the fact thst he is doin a serious role, but Cha Dong Joo character in CYHMH is his best performace to date, my personal opinion.... Oppa hwaiting......

    • I've only seen a couple of episodes of Scandal so I don't have much an opinion yet on KJW's acting thus far but I too love his Cha Dong Joo character in CYHMH. He was such a nice lead to root for. I guess when a character is written as compassionate and good, sad yet loving and forgiving, it's really hard to not like a character like that.

  • I'm enjoying this drama quite a lot and I must agree that KJW's performance is great here. Love his character.

  • i can't even imagine how devastated Ha Eun Joong gonna be when he knows the truth. his current father was his kidnapper. his real father is a murderer & almost killed him too. i hope Ah Mi will be there for him T^T

i've no sympathy left for Jang Eun Joong after his decision to get rid of real Eun Joong. congrats for digging your own grave.

  • Yes, Yes, Yes... I would like to see the mother and son re union, I am sooooo looking forward to see the drama between Shin Eun Kyung and Kim Jae Won and also between Jo Jae Hyun and Kim Jae Won as they try to re-asses their relationships. I think I would have to prepare lots of tissues for that one. This drama is a melodrama where the storyline mskes sense and the characters do not have to go over the top. The story line is gripping and all the actors are so living it in. I am hoping the Man Bok character will find peace and make better choices in the end and I am hoping that Jo Haa will also reconnect with her long lost brother.
