Ooooh, me likey very much. The first teaser preview is out for the upcoming SBS alien-actress K-drama You From Another Star. Starring current It-leading man Kim Soo Hyun and movie actress Jeon Ji Hyun, the story revolves around an alien who has been living on Earth for 400 years and in the year 2013 is living the life of a university professor. The casting plays with Kim Soo Hyun’s baby-face and explains it away as an old soul inside a perpetually youthful visage. In the preview, he appears to have supernatural powers which in typical alien lore is just his natural state which translates into extraordinary powers here on Earth. The teaser doesn’t tell us much about the story but is instead a series of scenes beautifully rendered culminating in Kim Soo Hyun leaning into Jeon Ju Hyun and telling her “I will protect you.” That’s a pretty intriguing way to pique my interest if we’re talking the alien version of The Bodyguard. It definitely does the job of showing me this noona-dongsaeng romance has the requisite sparks and the two leads’ chemistry in The Thieves wasn’t a fluke. I’m pleased with Kim Soo Hyun’s hairstyle after his last modern drama Dream High required him to turn into a country bumpkin. Jeon Ji Hyun is always the epitome of fabulous and it’s going to be a visual treat to see her always dolled up to play the role of a top Hallyu actress. YFAS doesn’t premiere until December 25th but it’s nice of SBS to release an itty bitty short teaser to whet our appetite.

Well, well, well - Kim Soo Hyun is actually pretty good looking with his bangs up. I think I'm finally succumbing to his charms, lol.
And this isn't a noona romance if you look at the ages of the characters and not the actors. I think the writer basically pulled the 'youthful face' stuff out of you know where to accommodate Kim Soo Hyun.
Most anticipated project of 2013 (for me) when i first heard news about it.
2013 has been a rather disappointing one (basketball, mi-rae's choice, sword and flower, etc. among them) compared to the surprisingly pleasant Empress Ki. Let's hope we can end 2013 with a good drama on the horizons. You from another star, i have high hopes.
not to mention Level 7 Civil Servant, That Winter The Wind Blows, Gu Family Book, and Heirs (though maybe there is hope for that last? Maybe?)
Even the weekend dramas sucked, but on the plus side we did get a handful of great things from cable (Cruel City, Monstar, Answer Me 1994, even the enjoyable Flower Boy Next Door), a couple of well-received sleeper hits (IHYV, Secret) and one solid return to form (Master's Sun, for the Hong sisters)
a lot of dissapointments but the best dramas of this year are also some of the best I've personally seen in recent years.
Bring it on "You From Another Star"!
