Written and Picture Preview for Episode 13 of Prime Minister and I

Well look’s who’s back. The lovely Jang Ae Yun, who I thought was doing a cameo appearance in Prime Minister and I to play the no longer present wife of the Prime Minister, appears confirmed to return to the drama in episode 13. Let’s hope it’s a one episode gig even if she is still breathing, anything more and I’ll be using my FF-button. No shade on Jang Ae Yun who is actually really fantastic here even in the short glimpses we’ve seen of her. She’s a famous actress in her own right and when I saw her turn as Yul’s wife Na Young I totally thought it was a cute way to reunite her with Lee Bum Soo since they co-starred together in the K-movie A Story Sadder than Sadness (More Than Blue). Who knew she wasn’t just doing flashback scenes. Sigh. I’ve said my piece on her return, both the knee jerk reaction of screaming “Noooooo” as well as the second opinion that maybe this writer knows what she’s doing and has crafted a reasonable explanation for why a wife and mother would leave her family for 7 years and let the world think she’s dead. That part also confuses me because at one point eldest son Woo Ri uses the word “missing” in an early episode.

That would indicate her body was not at the car accident crash site, but then why would the world think she’s dead and be okay with Yul remarrying Da Jung. Was she declared dead legally? If not then there is a giant risk of bigamy going on, though we all know Yul didn’t register their marriage so at least it’s one less worry there. If PM pulls it off with the not-dead-wife typically makjang plot twist and continues to write smart decisive narrative surrounding it, then this drama will only keep on building its awesomeness in my eyes. It’s already exceeding all expectations as a rom-com that is both romantic and comedic, but if it manages to toss in a makjang element without letting it feel makjang, that is some ballsy writing going on. SM Town released some preview pics showing the happy Kwon family (and In Ho, who has been such a third wheel in this drama) at the beach for an outing. KBS also released the written preview for episode 13 which reveals how Yul will react to Da Jung’s kapow of a love confession. Girl’s got her heart on a platter and her pride on her sleeve. Please be emotionally brave this time, Prime Minister-nim!

Written preview for episode 13:

Yul starts to avoid Da Jung after she confesses to him, and elsewhere In Ho starts searching for Na Young who he believes he saw at the hospital. Da Jung hears of Hye Joo’s resignation and tries to persuade her to remain by Yul’s side. Hye Joo reveals her feelings for Yul and explains she wants to get over this first love. Yul is in a difficult place because of Da Jung’s confessions but after much thought he calls her up to tell her how he really feels about her……….

  • The article Da Jeong read about her accident in Episode 1 said 'missing', not 'dead'. I'm sure Korean viewers caught that and expected this way earlier than we did.

Maybe the authorities assumed the body fell into the river and got carried away. If the first people at the scene (assuming it was Yool) found her and hid her (to avoid the scandal, perhaps).

I'm sure there is something in the law which would get her declared dead eventually. Otherwise, no one who loses someone in a way the body cannot be recovered would be allowed to ever go on with life and remarry. And I'm sure she would be declared dead, because the press would easily find out if Yool has a marriage contract with her still. He would not have been able to fool people with the contract marriage if he were still legally and officially married to Na Young. So legally, I do feel they are no longer married.

  • I do hope Yul will step up this episode and confess to DJ. So far I love PM&I and I love the OTP but for the past few episodes it's frustrating how passive Yul is. I mean so far it's DJ who is making all the effort in this relationship, she cares for him, take care of his children, help him reconnect with his children, take care of him when he sick; and on top of that has to take care of her own father who is dying. Now she is also the one to confess. But the only thing Yul has done for the past few episodes is to brood and push her away repeatedly. I get that he is hurt by his first marriage but we have been re-trending that ground since episode 7. I know I sound harsh but I am tired of the constant push pull and Yul's inability to move on. Seriously DJ is starting to look pathetic. The viewers know that Yul loves her back but DJ doesn't know that. From her point of view there's no difference between her and Hye Joo right now. Both harbors a one-sided love for a man who is oblivious to their affections which is painful to watch.

What I really hope for the next episodes is for Yul to step up, take some initiative and fight for his own happiness for a change and resolve what ever issues he has with his ex(?) wife. I don't care for the love triangle with In Ho nor do I care to see Yul get jealous or something. I want to see Yul do something meaningful for DJ in return. Reciprocate her love will be a good first step. How about visit her father in the nursing home together with her and spend some time with the person who is most important in HER life. At the very least take her out to dinner without planning to drive her away afterwards.

  • i am trying to see from yul's perceptive, reason why he keep playing push and distance with da jung because of his belief, he also a father and he think da jung deserve for better man, a younger not a widower with 3 kids as he told in ho in eps 4.
i guess he also not believe with himself after his wife's affair to someone.
and he doesnt want to put da jung life in danger because jk plan to direct attack her too.
so in his perceptive, he want to protect his woman, also not confident if he will able to make her happy.
he need to tell da jung about his thoughts and let them solve it together again. this is how love in this drama, to communicate, it's not only skinship but relation need maintained with communication too.

  • I agree with Susan; I think Yul is a realistic. It is fine to declare your love, but in the current situation that is a burden, too. After all, Yul has to think about his job as PM (which, in the eyes of the nation, should be his #1 concern), he has to deal with the upheaval in his staff with HJ leaving, he has to deal with his own unresolved issues with his first wife who is missing-presumed-dead, then there is his brother-in-law hating on him, the conglomerate literally gunning for him, and the fact that he may be asked to resign because of the political path he is taking. And somewhere in there, he has to figure out what is best for his children.
That's a lot of balls to juggle in the air at once, and I can fully understand why he doesn't want to add the time and emotional complexities of a love affair on top of all this. I think that this is one of the main reasons why HJ did not confess her feelings for all of these years: she did not want to add to Yul's burden.

  • It would be good for the contract marriage to be nullified (with the return of the first wife) so that once that mess is sorted Yul and DJ can marry for real.
