Being disappointed with the process by which Prime Minister and I wrapped up doesn’t mean I’ve erased all my love for this drama. It probably just downgrades the feeling to like very much, which in the grander scheme of things is pretty hefty praise for it considering the dearth of solid rom-coms in years. I get the tendency to see the glass as half full (they reunited in the end, yay!) but the final lap around the track in PM getting there was both unnecessarily cluttered with artificial considerations along with one huge Na Young-sized rock that was impossible to swallow. It rankles me that this drama devoted so much time in the final stretch to a character no one cared about and frankly everyone loathed with the heat of a thousand suns. If she were a villain that would be understandable, but for her story to get a happy ending achieved by the maturity and sacrifice of everyone else but her own atonement, I simply can’t stomach that rotten logic. With that said, I think PM remains a zippy little romance that I will always rewatch up to episode 13 when Yul took Da Jung’s hand and they admitted to loving each other. The hard working cast and crew attended a well-deserved drama wrap party last night attended by all the main leads and the three cute kids playing Woo Ri, Na Ra, and Man Se.
I think there was too little of the three of them in the last episode and perhaps if there were more cute children it would have been the sugar to better wash down the Na Young bile. If ever a drama called for fanfiction this would be it, and it’s not even rewriting the ending but actually appending an afterword to how the Kwon family found their happiness with Da Jung again. This was a difficult drama for Lee Bum Soo to film since he lost his beloved father at the outset of filming and also broke his pinky. He wrote a handwritten letter to thanking his fans and cast mates for helping him through a difficult time. He was simply amazing as Kwon Yul and nothing more needs to be said that he’s an amazing guy in real life as well. Yoona completely changed my impression of her and she’s now joined my collection of actresses that I keep an eye out for. The supporting leads from Chae Jung Ahn, Yoon Si Yoon, and Ryu Jin were all fantastic and this really was a rip-roaring cast that sadly was let down by a last minute writing fail like so many promising other dramas before.

Yoona with black hair wow. Prime Minister and I fighting.
i'm going to love this drama no matter what, and i'm going to take our advice and will rewatch ep 13 as the finale.funny how one drama can change the feeling i had about yoona for years. i liked her as a very pretty idol girl with a nice enough image, but now i'm loving her as an actress hope she will do a movie next since she have a string of low rating drama's. sm can surely do that for her and more.
my heart broke hearing about his farther.and the respect for him only increased.and i'm glad he'll be doing a mbc drama next where hopefully he'll get a hit.
the kids are amazing, and i cant really get how the pd and writer screw their own drama where they pay and work like dogs to make.how did the kids and the whole family didn't get a final shot? don't they love their own story even a litlle as fans do who just tune in for an hour? how else can you explain the long list of trainwreks in kdrama land.
sighh
Ms O, thanks for posting the pictures and the write up. Shared your sentiments regarding the storyline on the last four episodes. Anyhow, the salvation were LBS portrayal of his role and the adorable young actors/actress. I should not forget the second leads.
i will always have a soft spot for PMAI. and i'm sure it will be hard to topple yul out as my most favorite korean male lead. thanks koala for your updates and recaps. it's been an awesome 2 months for me thanks to this wonderful drama.
Woori Nara Manse look like real siblings..! The kids were such a treat throughout the drama..
It was only when watching the last flashback did I realize how physical DaJeong & Yul's interactions used to be. Rolling on the floor, catching her fall.. It all petered out in the last 2 eps and we don't even get a kiss.. Grrrrrrr
Thank you for sharing the pics Ms Koala. Everyone looked really cute and happy. I bet they had a lot of fun on set.
Thanks again for recapping PMaI until the end. This will still belong to my list of most loved kdrama of all time despite the tepid ending. The Kwon Yul family (KY, DJ and the three kids) will always be dear to my heart. Looking forward to their next projects.
The casting was fantastic and I wish all the best. Yes it was a wonderful romance all the way to ep 13. The confession was so heartfelt and sincere.
Damn the writer for losing her courage and coping out at the end with the lame chiche non-skinship ending.
In a few years, have a Noona romance with Yoona and the eldest son. They make a cute couple in the photos. I mean a rom/com, not in RL.
The Japanese dramas some times have a follow up special. I think it would be great to have a special of PM&I with the family together being cute and loving for a proper ending to a good drama.
Ms. Koala I like your headshot... Thanks.LSG and HJW. TK2H has been my favorite drama all the time.
I'm so glad you featured PM's after party. I saw these yesterday in SmTownSNSD's website but it was almost all Yoona pics. Now I can see everyone, even my fave little guy Man-Se who seemed grown a bit! How cute! Thank you Ms. Koala! :)
The journey I had shared with all of you here through PM has been memorable. Thinking back, I should say PM will always be part of my fave rom-coms list, even if it kind of limped towards the end. I think in time, I can forgive and forget that the ending even happened. Overall, it was still a story that rekindled the feeling of old-style contract-marriage-themed dramas that I've craved so much since My Sassy Girl Choon Hyang.
And how could I forget PM when it made me fall in love with Lee Bum Soo more and improved Yoona's acting skills?!? Their chemistry was downright perfect! Wide age-gap be damned! For me, it didn't affect the drama, it wasn't even obvious! Maybe, I should commend LBS for that. I couldn't even fathom how he could have continued acting despite his father's death. How professional! His handwritten letter was also very touching! As you said, he's just amazing not only as PM Kwon Yul but also in real life as our dear Lee Bum Soo. :)
