Weekend Drama Hotel King Releases Posters and Unexpectedly Comedic New Teasers

I was pretty underwhelmed with the super moody first promos for the upcoming MBC weekend drama Hotel King. It’s the drama most anticipated for the high profile reunion of My Girl popular leads Lee Dong Wook and Lee Da Hae, but also boasts a sprawling revenge melodrama topic and a huge cast including Wang Ji Hye, Im Seulong, Alex, Gong Hyun Joo, Kim Hae Sook, and Lee Duk Hwa. I was expecting something somber and serious but the latest previews upend that initial premise and showcase the funny side of this drama. The posters are out already and is very hotel-centric with the group poster arraying the cast in a hotel conference room and the OTP poster showing Lee Da Hae curled up on Lee Dong Wook’s leg and the camera peering at them through a hotel key hole. It’s not bad and definitely of the better variety from MBC these days, or else I’m still forever cringing at the craziness that passed for posters of Scandal: That Very Shocking and Immoral Incident. The two new previews are on the hilarious side with Lee Da Hae showcasing all her comedic timing and spitfire acting chops. I chuckled a few times and definitely squeed at the scenes when the two leads were in the same frame. It brought back all my happy memories of My Girl and I think the comfortable level between them will make this drama crackle with even better chemistry and tension then if they were new co-stars working together for the first time.

  • Lee Dong Wook is looking mighty fiiiine. Also, the funny trailer made me remember My Girl and [slightly] wish this was a romcom rather than a melodrama. But I'll take what I can get.

  • Ohhh! This is looking much better than the first teaser! Can't wait for this drama to start airing! Crossing fingers that it'll turn out to be the next drama crack! XP

  • My Girl is one of the early K-Drama I've watched and the first one that I marathoned in just one day. I got really hooked and loved their chemistry (but not the ridiculous plot). Needless to say, LDW is my first K-drama actor crush. I'm not that crazy about them now as I was before but I may actually checked this one out for old time's sake :) Hoping for the best for this drama.

    • i'm so confused as well. that girl doesn't look like lee da hae or wang ji hye... oh that's gong hyun joo lol. just saw her as the actress/ex girlfriend in can we love

      • You guys have one more confused person to add! I've been staring at that pic for 3 minutes but I still can't make up my mind to who it is o_O

    • LDH has undergone so many plastic surgery in recent years. She looks quite different from her old days in "My Girl". Will be interesting to see how this drama turns out.

  • I don't know why I don't like lee da have as much as when my girl's days. Maybe because she changes too much back then and now. I still love lee dong wool though. I will check this out if it is good

  • That poster with Lee Da Hae sitting on the seat looks like a bad photoshop work... her left arm looks weird and her legs seem awkward. Just looks like they made every part of her longer.... but especially her left arm looks weird.... I don't think it's supposed to bend like that...

  • Lee Da Hae has lost a lot of weight since My Girl. She is quite tall so the weight loss makes her look "elongated". This has also affected her face shape somewhat, she used to have chubbier cheeks. She is still beautiful and her acting is better than ever, I support and ship them :-) Will watch this for them, will decide on plot later...LOL
