Joseon Gunman Keeps the Excitement High with More Teaser Treats and Cast Interview

If something quacks like a duck, looks like a duck, walks like a duck, then it is most definitely a duck. Same does not go for dramas as plenty of dramas have looked good and sounded good only to end up horribly off-the-mark. Like a supposed ace pitcher getting on the mound and throws a wild pitch that lands somewhere in the corner off third base while all the runners on base make it home on a major whiff. Joseon Gunman currently looks good and sounds good so I’m just praying it’ll live up to its stellar promotional materials. The second teaser trailer was released this week after the Thursday episode of Golden Cross and introduces all the leads in addition to the titular Joseon Gunman himself Lee Jun Ki. Unfortunately KBS is being a beast and removing the videos swiftly so the best I can find is a fan-spliced video of the first two teasers mushed together. It’s actually very well-made and showcases the other leads including Nam Sang Mi, Han Joo Wan, Jeon Hye Bin, and Yoo Oh Sung. There are also two official stills released of Yoo Oh Sung’s antagonist villain and Choi Jae Sung who plays a fierce Joseon swordsman and father to Lee Jun Ki’s character.

Not much can be gleaned from the trailers in terms of cast chemistry or an inkling of the overall drama visuals or style other than there is lots of running around, all the characters look very determined or upset, and there are gun shots aplenty. While the leads all project fantastic individual charisma in the teasers, behind the scenes it appears like a giant love-fest and cuteness galore. A KBS news program visited the set and did a too short snippet interview with the cast. The OTP of Nam Sang Mi and Lee Jun Ki can be seen promising to do their best to create a “chemistry-filled couple” for the audiences, which judging from their “go get a room already” scorching chemistry in Time Between Dog and Wolf won’t be hard at all to repeat. Then the four leads are gathered together and Lee Jun Ki leads them in a round of “Joseon Gunman Fighting!” that had me grinning cheek-to-cheek with how gung ho and excited everyone is. Check out the great new stuff below and let’s keep the excitement high for this new sageuk to kick start the Summer drama season.
