Three Musketeers Finally Looks Interesting with New Drama Scenes Preview

I’m so happy to finally see a good preview from the upcoming tvN sageuk drama Three Musketeers, which is the transplanted to Joseon version of the famous novel story for those who haven’t been keeping track of the development and filming of this drama. I found the early stylish teasers a fail for not being stylish enough to win on visuals alone and giving off no character or story to merit a second glance. The drama is a week out from airing and the good folks at the network have finally gotten around to packing a preview that shows more actual scenes from the drama. Better late than never and in this instance the actual scenes do the job of enticing me to check out the real deal when it airs. Jung Yong Hwa plays Park Dal Hyang, a country boy swordsman who comes to the capital Hanyang with big warrior dreams and also looking for his first love. He encounters the titular three musketeers led by Crown Prince Sohyun played by Lee Jin Wook, swashbuckling Yang Dong Gun as Heo Seung Po, and maknae Ah Min Seo played by newbie Jung Hae In. Dal Hyang’s first love Yoon Seo played by Seo Hyun Jin is now the Crown Princess and Dal Hyang finds himself in the weird K-drama exception where the childhood romance doesn’t actually get the girl. There are dangerous plots within the palace and invading hoards looking to attack Joseon so the Three Musketeers plus Dal Hyang get suited up for plenty of action of the swordplay and fighting variety. This drama comes from the writing-directing team behind Queen In Hyun’s Man and Nine: Nine Times Travel but doesn’t have any of the time-traveling of those two dramas and will instead be firmly a sageuk.

  • "Dal Hyang finds himself in the weird K-drama exception where the childhood romance doesn't actually get the girl"

This being live shot of course, and Dal Hyang being played by Jung Yong Hwa, there's always a chance that fanservice madness will see them say STFU to historical accuracy and give his fans what they want. It worked so SPECTACULARLY well for his last Drama, after all. :)

    • LOL Stuart, it's time to stop beating that dead horse - it's so long past dead that it's buried, its bones have turned to dust and it ceases to be a memory. What will it take for you to wake up and smell the daisies? Jung Yong Hwa did not get the girl in Mi Rae's Choice and his fans certainly didn't want that non-ending - continuing to pretend that was "fanservice" in order to explain away the writer's descent into madness does not make it reality. It's just sad, seriously.

  • i just watched the long preview. so many actions in the drama. seems very interesting. but the drama is only once a week. less story in a week and then has to wait for the coming week. make me think twice to invest in this drama
