Lovely Wedding Stills From Cross-border Couples Chae Rim-Gao Zi Qi and Tang Wei-Kim Tae Young

Everyone can probably use some happy news to wrap up this week and hopefully herald a better upcoming week in Asian entertainment news. August has been brutal in more ways than the deadly heat. Two cross-border top celebrity marriages made the headlines this week for releasing wedding photo shoots and the pairings are cute in that it’s flip-flopped. Top C-actress Tang Wei is marrying once-divorced K-director Kim Tae Young who directed her and Hyun Bin in Late Autumn, while K-actress Chae Rim who has been active in China for the last decade is marrying C-actor Gao Zi Qi. It’s a fair trade if we go by the Asian custom that the bride joins the groom’s family (and nationality), and is even nicer to think that love does break through language and cultural obstacles.

Tang Wei and Kim Tae Young actually got married already with a small ceremony in Sweden earlier in July, but this past week held a family and close friends only ceremony in Hong Kong. Tang Wei is relocating to live in Seoul but will continue her acting career in China. Chae Rim and Gao Zi Qi’s wedding is scheduled for October as a two-fer, a ceremony in China with the groom’s friends and family followed by a ceremony in Seoul a week later to celebrate with the bride’s side. This will be a second marriage for Chae Rim after a failed three year marriage to K-singer Lee Seung Hwan while it’s a first marriage for Gao Zi Qi, who is also a few years younger than her. This couple also met on the set of a project, playing a married couple in the CCTV period drama Li Family’s Great Residence. Congrats to both sets of happy and in love pretties!

  • Yeah for good news!
And congratulations for both couples. Being in an cross-border relationship, love actually breaks through language and cultural differences.

    Love is the moment!

  • Chae Rim was a great noona in dramalnad, too, with *sigh* Lee Min-ki.

And Tang Wei was awesome in Late Autumn.
She reminds me of Jung Ryu Won, but that could just be the memories her her and HB intruding.

Thanks for the positive news. The world is really a good place if only we didn't measure it by the headlines, you know?

  • Yay, good news! Wonderful pictures. I love the color of Chae Rim's dress. If I ever get married, I might forgo the traditional white for that blush color. I didn't know she was married before.

I wish both couples success and happiness.

  • And people were complaining that your blog has too much scandals and what not. I actually like that you write those news. Reason is that I'm not Chinese nor Korean. So, my knowledge of these type of celebrity news/scandals/gossips are very limited. And I am very happy with what you share and your insightful comments. With that being said, both couples are absolutely gorgeous. I really hope Chae Rim would still do a Kdrama. I really miss seeing her onscreen. Too bad I can't understand Chinese because I really want to watch her C-drama. Congrats to both couples. :)

  • If anyone could explain the photographer's concept on the 1st image to me, I'd appreciate it. From my European [and a bit sarcastic for once] POV, the groom-to-be somehow managed to sit on a high wall and he teases his poor bride-to-be to reach his level by stretching his hand out to her. But, dude, the gravity law will have you fall down instead. There has got to be a hidden message somewhere. *scratching her head*

    • From my equally European POV it's just an artistic shot, possibly of him having picked her favourite flower off the tree (frangipani!!!!! my favourite) and handing it to her. They both being playful.

I'm totally not into weddings and wedding photos, but I love that one! It doesn't even necessarily say wedding, it could just be a fashion shoot.

    • My interpretation is that there is no boundaries when it comes to love. Both Chae Rim and Gao Zi Qi are culturally different (Chae Rim being S. Korean and Gao Zi Qi as Chinese). The wall represents the block between two cultures. However, love is what conquers it all. Thru love, he climbs over the wall to meet with this one and only true love. Love has no boundaries.

  • Photography-wise, Chae Rim's more appealing to my eyes. Tang Wei's pics are very... standard. Okay I admit I just love looking at elaborate pre-wed pics. Congrats for both brides, may everyone find happiness and adjust well in their new place of residence. Hrhrhrhhrrr I really can't imagine transporting myself permanently to a country where I can't even speak the language, all in the name of love. That's courage and love I suppose.
