It’s still two weeks away from the premiere of the next Fuji TV Getsu 9 dorama 5-ji kara 9-ji made (From Five to Nine), which is two weeks too long for me so I’ll have to snack on cute OTP appetizers until then. Starring Yamashita Tomohisa and Ishihara Satomi, the dorama is an adaptation of the same name manga by Aihara Miki, who has a decent engrossing illustrative style but whose storytelling ranges from mildly infuriating to straight out spitting blood rage inducing. 5-ji kara 9-ji made isn’t as awful as Hot Gimmick but is also not a story I was particularly wanting to see get a live-action adaptation.
With that said, anything that unites Yamapi and Satomi in a renzouku and playing OTP gets a pass from me, not to mention the adaptations of mangas these days tend to deviate a lot from the source material. I barely recognized the dorama version of Kyou wa Kaisha Yasumimasu from the source manga after the first episode. So please, go right ahead and deviate from the source material, but keep all the hot smexy adult romance stuff. The promo team is already on fire in sending out the two leads to shoot adorable magazine press as evidenced by all these recent cute pics.

Argh so cute. I read a bunch of the chapters a couple of weeks ago unaware that there was an adaptation in the work and I thought it was okay, although I have to admit there were some moments where I had to go "What....why...". I tried looking at hot gimmick just to see what you meant koala, and I stopped reading after 5-6 chapters because of my ill feelings to harm my phone -.-
I really like the whole cast, so I am not hesitant to give this a try.
I'm not going to watch this, firstly because of Aihara Miki and the story that promotes stalking and physical and emotional abuse and promotes it as romantic.
I know that the dorama (hopefully) will tone it down but I have no faith in the cast.
Well I like the supporting cast but Yamapi isn't leading man material at all and Satomi can easily go into the over the top in her acting. (She needs to reign in when she starts acting cutesy)
Embarrassed to admit that I avidly read the Hot Gimmick series and bought the translated versions in my own language because the American ones were 6 times the price. Those were the days before scanlations, teehee!
I'm intrigued now that I know it's an Aihara Miki adaptation. Yamapi caught my attention first. Lost my heart to him during his Nobuta Wo Produce and Proposal Daisakusen days and I still have a soft spot for him.
All I see is Okada junnchi as Atsushi Dojo. I can't wait for Sunday library wars special.

Here for Satomi. I've only seen Yamapi in Kurosagi and I've never gotten the hype. I'll follow Satomi anywhere though since Rich Man, Poor Woman and Dear Sister. She won me over.
Gosh I love this man but I don't like his hair here.I wish it will look better in the drama. I never watch kurosagi but whenever I miss him I just rewatch buzzer beat again and again...love that drama.Is there any drama like that again?
Its a crime for Yamapi to be this handsome! Damn i cant wait to see him in this dorama. Still havent finished watching his other one since people don't want to sub the drama and i have to wait forever...sighh!
