I wasn’t terribly interested in the reunion project between uber-popular Chinese stars Yang Mi and Li Yi Feng, mostly because their first hit coupling in Ancient Sword Legend never roped me in to begin with. That being said, I quite liked the first previews for upcoming C-romance movie Fall in Love Like a Star, though Fall in Love with a Star seems a more appropriate title. The movie, which I initially thought was a drama, is about two college sweethearts who have to navigate romance in the entertainment industry when the guy becomes a top star and the girl ends up his manager.
It sounds super stilted but the previews really sold me on their sweet romance, with Li Yi Feng’s top star super into his college girlfriend even after he becomes famous, which immediately endears me to his character. Yang Mi is also working with the vulnerability, not to mention everything looks super pretty. Bonus points for having current C-ent It Girl Dilraba Dilmurat as the second female lead. This doesn’t need to be award-winning to be worth watching, and if it ends up being sincere and simply it ought to be one of the better early winter offerings.

whoa, yang mi looks somewhat off compared to the last time i've seen her.
For some reason the Yang Mi - Li Yi Feng pairing looks off in this movie. Yang Mi has matured a lot since giving birth to her daughter and i think this is affecting the compatibility between her and Li Yi Feng. I'm not so interested in this project of Yang Mi's as I am more excited for her drama "Les Interpretes" with Huang Xuan which I believe will showcase her more mature charms and possibly an acting range of Yang Mi's that we have never seen before.
I'm sorry, but regarding Yang Mi, this much plastic surgery keeps distracting the outcome of her performance. Makes her looks too artificial even more opposite natural and "pure" Li Yi Feng's image.
I really hope both of their performances can overcome this, and portray a believable love story instead of young boy that's just infatuated with some older woman, which it's not wrong at all, but I don't think it's the concept regarding this movie.
Still watching it, thank you Koala for the article, as always.
Yang Mi and Li Yi Feng are the same age but she really does have a much more mature vibe going for her.
This is totally beside the point but I was surprised to hear Kit Chan on the bgm in the last trailer!
