What a lovely reunion, made all the more special because of the longevity of the friendship and the charitable cause in question. The two leading ladies of the 2003 C-drama adaptation of wuxia novel Heavenly Sword and Dragon Sabre reunited this week to do a photoshoot for a children’s charity campaign that is near and dear to their hearts. A-list Chinese actress Gao Yuan Yuan and returning to the entertainment world TW-actress Alyssa Chia do not look a day older than thirteen years ago when they filmed the popular drama together with leading man Alec Su.
Alyssa played female lead Zhao Min, the spoiled and straightforward Yuan princess, while Gao Yuan Yuan had the tougher character in Zhou Zhi Ruo, written as the female lead with the childhood romance and then thrown in the ringer in the second half of the drama. Aside from traditional Chinese goddess looking Crystal Liu when she was cast in both Return of the Condor Heroes and Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils as the most beautiful women in the entire wuxia world, Alyssa and Gao Yuan Yuan remain the prettiest Louis Cha novel leading lady duo ever cast. It’s wonderful to see then just as pretty even so many years later, and both are happily married and glowing with contentment.

This version of heaven sword and dragon sabre had the prettiest female casts! The actresses playing as Xiao zhao and zhu er were also pretty. I freaking love alyssa jia as zhao min. She doesn't age at all.
Both so pretty and still look as young as ever and similar... good to know Alyssa is returning I saw a recent picture of Alyssa and Hu Ge on the set, thought she was Gao Yuan Yuan...
OMG, I can't believe it's been 13 years since HSDS 2003, I remember being obsessed with that version. It's lovely how they have kept that friendship together for so many years.
This was definitely my favorite adaptation with the tightest story and solid acting! Can't remember how many times i rewatched this a decade ago!!
