Taecyeon and Lee Chung Ah in Talks as Second Leads in MBC Drama Lucky Romance

Well this certainly two more potential adds in the plus column for upcoming MBC comedy drama Lucky Romance. The network has extended offers to idol-actor Taecyeon for the second male lead and actress Lee Chung Ah to be the second female lead. The drama has already confirmed leads Hwang Jung Eum and Ryu Jun Yeol, going for the successful drama ratings queen and current It Boy pairing, with a side of always popular noona-dongsaeng romance.

The drama is about a fortune telling obsessed female lead and her quest to avoid foretold death by sleeping with a male virgin born in the Chinese zodiac year of the Tiger, with said male virgin who happens to be her uptight orderly landlord. I’ve always liked Taecyeon even if he’s a stiff actor, from Cinderella Unni to Dream High all the way to Wonderful Days (I skipped Assembly), he continues to improve in ability breadth while maintaining that big boy earnest demeanor. If he joins it’ll certainly be another reason to check out Lucky Romance.

I haven’t watched Lee Chung Ah in a few years since Flower Boy Ramyun Shop, where she had great chemistry with Jung Il Woo but ended up dating second male lead Lee Ki Woo in real life (woo hoo!). She has this understated presence and appeal that makes her less charismatic as the female lead but I think would work nicely in second lead situations to humanize the more stereotypical characterizations. If the drama throws the second leads together in the end, the pairing of Taecyeon and Lee Chung Ah would totally bring back FBRS memories with the similar vibe.

  • i do like hwang jung eum but when lee chung ah's name got thrown in the mix i found myself wanting the latter to play the female lead role instead

  • I love Lee Chung Ah. She seems to be busier lately and I'm so here for it.
Love the leads and if she sings on I'll be all the happier.
I haven't seen Taec in anything since Dream High, and while I know he is not an actor at all (lol), I wouldn't mind him either.

  • Not much of a noona-dongsaeng pairing. Just a one-year age gap lol. I also thought it would be wide, not that I mind. I guess Jung Hwan really stuck, hah. I keep thinking of him as a highschooler though he doesn't really look the part lol.

Really like the cast though I do want to see Lee Chung-ah in a lead role. I also like Taec even though he's not that good. I have a soft spot for him.

  • Taecyeon's acting.... well, at least thank god he doesn't play lead roles any more. Viewers don't deserve that torture.
