Of the four leads of KBS hit drama Descendants of the Sun, actress Kim Ji Won playing army doctor Yoon Myung Joo was the least well known of the cast. Her popularity has skyrocketed along with the other leads in equal measure hence she’s now been touted for prime time drama leads such as in upcoming KBS sageuk Moonlight Drawn by Clouds. She passed on it and the role eventually landed with Kim Yoo Jung but I have a feeling good things will come Kim Ji Won’s way and being selective now rather than speedy is the smarter career movie. She’s all pink this month for Singles Magazine, going for a mussy chic look in one shot and then dreamy feminine in another. Her role in Heirs showed me that she can take stereotypical bitch and make it three dimensional, and now added to that her performance in DotS was memorable even in a drama dominated by the two leads screen time. Her next role will be crucial to setting the stage for her next phase.

Me too! I've been a fan since I watched her with Im Joo Hwan, Im Joo Eun, and Jo Jung Seok in What's Up. High Kick was aired first, but What's Up was filmed first.
I really think this lady can act. Some actors/actresses kept bringing back memories of their prior dramas. No matter how hard they tried to live out new characters, you just couldn't get rid of their images from other dramas or you kept seeing actor/actress xxx rather than the person they were supposed to portray. But I totally forgot KJW was once that annoying bitch in the Heirs. I wish her the best in everything considering she does have acting talent.

Great! She's got a bright future. Not saying beauty is the only element to guarantee success, but I do think talents + looks open up more opportunities.
I know what you mean, 'natural' beauties without much talent seem to get a whole lot more opportunities than those who may be far more talented but don't fit Korean beauty standards.
Thankfully in her case, genetics and talent are both on her side, I hope she gets the recognition she deserves.

Anyway, I too agree that carefully choosing her next project is very important, that girl from Reply 1988 rushed into another drama after Reply's success and it didn't work out so well. So there's no need to KJW to rush, she has plenty of fans now to support her when she decides to come back to the small screen.
Although she was bitchy in Heirs I still like her then. She's with So Ji Sub in his webtoon One Fine Day. She's really better than those idol star s who doesn't act well. Good luck to your next project!
