IU Impressively Performs the Chinese Bu Bu Jing Xin OST Song at Changsa Fanmeeting

This is the perfect example of fan service done right, and just up my star and drama love alley to boot. Singer-actress IU was in Changsa, China this weekend for her personal fan meeting, and during the event she surprised her attending fans by performing the hit ending theme song from the Chinese drama adaptation of Bu Bu Jing Xin. IU sang “Three Inches of Heaven” in Chinese after practicing diligently for two weeks to memorize and master the pronunciation of the Mandarin Chinese lyrics. It was a brave attempt and the result was a successful and decent rendition of the song originally performed by C-songstress Yan Yi Dan. I hope IU contributes a track to the K-version of BBJX, and for that matter male lead Lee Jun Ki also sings, the OST for the Chinese BBJX was what added tons of feels so hopefully Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo (Bobogyungsim: Ryeo) succeeds in that vein as well.

  • I can't comment on whether her pronounciation was good or not but I love IU and her singing.

And I will definitely give the Korean remake a try. Also: Lee Jun Ki! :D

Other than that... my goodness has she grown up since Dream High. :D

    • Did Lee Jun Ki sing the song as well? I love "Three Inches of Heaven" and IU did justice to the song. I love how the casts of ML-SH are ramping up promoting their latest drama. I hope the drama will be a great success.

      • No I mean I will give the drama a chance because of IU and Lee Jun Ki. I would love to see a duet for the OST though. :D

And I agree I hope the drama will live up to the expectations. But I try no to judge too hard. I love the original drama and need to watch the remake as a independent adaptation. :)

  • Loved IU's rendition of "Three Inches of Heaven" , she was very good. As OMG said she did justice to the song. I will watch the remake of BBJX as I am very impressed with the K Stars' efforts with the Chinese audience !

  • IU is a good singer, and I am very fond of a lot of her Korean songs. Just a pity that (in my opinion at least) enunciation is very important in this song, and she wasn't quite there. Very impressive for a non-native speaker, and only two weeks' practice though!

  • Her pronunciation is impressive for a non-chinese speaker, it isn't perfect of course, any native Chinese speaker will be able to hear the words that were slurred, but the time and effort she puts in is worth a huge round of applause.

I'll say her pronunciation is 80% and her expression of meaning of the song lyrics is 50%. That's really great considering she doesn't know the language, and I really enjoyed her song.

  • IU nailed the song! Wow. She is very talented. I am very impressed that she actually took the time to practice her pronunciation for the song. It is pretty good for a non-chinese speaker on pronunciation for this song!
