All signs point to upcoming KBS Wed-Thurs drama On the Way to the Airport as residing squarely in the gimmick free adult life issues category of dramas. Starring Kim Ha Neul, Lee Sang Yoon, Shin Sung Rok, Jang Hee Jin, and Choi Yeo Jin, the drama centers around the crossed paths of Kim Ha Neul’s flight attendant and Lee Sang Yoon’s assistant professor of architecture. There’s kids and unsatisfying marriages aplenty, and an incident that introduces the leads to each other as things unfold from there.
This drama’s script is penned by Lee Sook Yoon who hasn’t done a K-drama before but has written many K-movies including Thread of Lies, The Sword with No Name, Happiness, and April Snow. The previews are all beautifully melancholy so if that’s the mood for you then this drama looks like a meaningful quiet watch. It will premiere on September 21 going opposite Shopping King Louie on MBC which is also premiering on the same day and both dramas come up against the middle of Incarnation of Jealousy‘s run on SBS.
