The high quality raw ingredients are there so it’s even more frustrating that screenwriter Park Ji Eun isn’t doing more with the scoundrel conmen trio of her leads in Legend of the Blue Sea. There are moments of brilliance such as Lee Min Ho‘s Joon Jae pulling off the reversal on the odious hospital vice-president, that was an epic acting session by Min Ho-sshi and thoroughly enjoyable on so many levels. But most of the times the cons feels perfunctorily executed and the tension seems off. The leads continue to anchor the drama but the pervasive feel that narratively the storytelling has elements missing makes me sad for what could have been there to turn good into potentially great. I hope this next con will be entertaining, I need more utterances of “disgusting shit” from Joon Jae, lol.

I like every part of the show. The leads are carrying the drama pretty well enough on their own. The drama is on a different level than K2 where I enjoy the evil leads more than the OTPs.
Here in Legend, I love the chemistry between both leads, both in the past and present.

I am never a fan of LMH but he is great in LOTBS. I find him even more of a scene stealer than JJH. Episode 6 was so funny and sweet and this show has started to grow on me. I am liking it so much, my latest drama cracks after Moon Lovers.
