A successful drama run these days is rarer than ever especially in the romantic comedy genre where it’s basically a unicorn. Just wrapped tvN Mon-Tues romance drama This Life is Our First (Because This is Our First Life), with less comedy than expected but still chuckles aplenty, held a much deserved cast drama wrap party this week as the final episode brought in nearly 5% ratings at 4.931%, with the entire drama run averaging a cable solid ratings of 3.463%.
A big congrats to the leads Lee Min Ki and Jung So Min, and the charming supporting leads Esom, Kim Ga Eun, Kim Min Seok, and Park Byung Eun. Even the guest starring turn by Lee Chung Ah was really refreshing and lovely, in the end this drama was satisfying like a well made bibimbap without unnecessary frills. The only distraction was the scandal of screenwriter Yoon Nan Joong for copying the premise of hit J-dorama We Got Married as a Job (Nigeru wa Haji da ga Yaku ni Tatsu) without credit but in the end K-viewers tuned in enough to make This Life a hit and stand on it’s own narrative trajectory.

The last 2 episodes were a little bit disapointing but this drama was great. And the casting too !
I can see how tired some of them are, especially Minki with those eye bags (going through the same rn :(). The drama was in some parts a bit bland, but overall really enjoyable!
Overall, I enjoyed it. Most of the narration was meaningful. Only episode 15, I felt the script writer lost its way a little and left episode 16 to be 80 minutes long. The only couple which I felt forced at the end was Ho-rang and Won-Seok.
Normal they copied jdrama
I felt the same. I thought it was great until episode 15, which was a shame. But overall, it was still good.
The drama is dull for me. Too much much narration and dull acting.
the drama is like seeing rich people trying to be someone they are not, pretended that they are the same as other without seeing that they still wear the gucci and chanel bag,
can someone explain to me how jung so min and lee chung ah's hair suddenly became so long? they both have short hair in the drama! were they wearing wigs in the drama or hair extensions at the wrap-up party?
JSM has short hair, she used hair extensions. I dont know about LCA, I thought thats her real hair though..long one.
pretentious drama, I never felt that it was groundbreaking and now after the finale, it seems like the writer can't finish what they started cause they never started it, they just borrow and copying jdrama and tone down a makjang kdrama.
I read in db yesterday, the drama is relatable because jiho is relatable but she never in real trouble so it's a perfect rose glass escapism and fantasy that will shattered when you see how pretentious and simple their concern are.
Only touch the surface and never go deep down on the problem
7/10 [thanks to the ost]
you find the word, pretentious, too pretentious
This drama was not relatable to the least to me, neither were the lead characters. It was a moderate success for tvn in the season of ratings drought but I'll never get the hype.
Okay need help here please. Who's the actor in picture 7 and the actress in picture 9? And their characters in the drama? My poor eyes cannot recognized them!
I think picture 7 is the director who assaulted JiHo, and maybe picture 9 is JiHo's sister-in-law?
probably I'm the minority who were not able to finish the drama. don't get all the hype.
This was a refreshing, delightful and very enjoyable drama. It managed to become my favourite this year. It is definitely a drama i wouldnt mind rewatching again and again.
