I almost spit out my coffee when I saw the first official character stills for Cha Seung Won in the tvN fantasy drama Hwayugi (A Korean Odyssey). Part circus barker crossed with a Victorian gentleman and part slick Korean gangster crossed with a club operator, his character is the modern incarnation of the fabled Bull Demon King here called King Wooma, and in this version has an affinity for ostentatious dressing and well-groomed facial hair. This is so up Cha Seung Won’s alley, and sometimes his human characters can veer into caricature territory like in his last Hong Sisters drama Best Love, but here his character really is larger than life.

That part I so agree. As much as I enjoyed "Best Love"...he tends to overact a bit and made his Dokko Jin appeared cartoonish. This fantasy character very much suits him and from the visuals that have been fed to us so far, I am kinda expecting something with a comic-feel. I am keeping my expectation low since the hyped dramas tend to disappoint the most and Hong sisters are no assurance these days. They have been quite inconsistent as of late.
I don't know about this... At first, I was kind of intrigued because LSG looked like he was playing a role very different from he usual good guy stuff. But, as I see more and more previews, it's starting to get a little on the cheesy side. I feel like this look is copied from a Johnny Depp type of character... Kdramas seems to be lacking in their own creativity lately.
