I have to give the Hong Sisters credit, when their creative ideas work it does become something memorable even with hiccups. Their fantasy-tinged dramas like My Girlfriend is a Gumiho and The Master’s Sun remain dramas with strong positive goodwill and I’m hoping the upcoming Hwayugi (A Korean Odyssey) continues that trend. The drama doesn’t air until next Saturday December 23rd but tvN is way ahead of the promo game as the cast held the drama press conference and released the long trailer this Friday. I loved the long preview, so chock full of charismatic leads Lee Seung Gi, Cha Seung Won, and Oh Yeon Seo along with supernatural powers and lots of scary ghost repelling shenanigans. I sense a love triangle with the leads but more than the romance I’m genuinely intrigued in how the Hong Sisters will world build The Journey to the West to modern day Korea.

I dont know how I feel watching the trailer...seems like too much going on but I am going to pass my verdict once I gave first episode a try.

I'm loving it. And I don't think there will be love triangle, *from a character charts I saw on twitter earlier*. The drama is 20 ep, I hope it won't drag and make everything steady and well written.
