I tend to forget how well Japan adapts its own mangas due to playing up the visuals to match the source material. The first stills and teaser are out for the J-dorama adaptation Hana Nochi Hare otherwise known as Boys Before Flowers Season 2. Starring Sugisaki Hana, Hirano Sho, and Nakagawa Taishi, the drama picks up a years after the F4 have graduated their elite high school and follows the similar set up with a new group of rich kids as the alpha clique known as the C5 and a poor girl attending under a scholarship. I’m curious whether this new story by the same mangaka as the original has the same hooks that made HanaDan so wildly popular, and whether the live-action will bring a new generation of viewers to the world of rich kids learning about life through encounters with a spunky poor girl with heart.
