Is it me or does it feel like a greater number than usual K-dramas are in production right now. Not complaining though too many of them are still in the legal/police/medical genre for me. Two that are not are part of the remake wave, namely OCN‘s K-version of British show Mistresses and MBN‘s remake of J-dorama Rich Man, Poor Woman. I’m curious about both for different reasons – Mistresses marks Han Ga In‘s first drama in 6 years and also the first of the British show remake train with Life on Mars and Luther to follow, and while I’m not happy with the casting of idol-actor Suho as the male lead of RMPW my affection for the original work is enough to lure me to check out this version. Mistresses premieres April 28th while K-RMPW arrives on May 9th.
This year 2024 has been a slow year for K-actress Suzy in terms of her…
There are weird casting choices and this one is weird from both the leads itself…
Well this is an interesting pairing, setting aside the age difference at least I can…
I swear I just wrote about Song Joong Ki having his first baby and then…
At the end of the day, the core of any good drama remains the Story,…
If I didn't know this drama was a romance set in space and done K-drama…

I didn't know they are doing Luther. Should be interesting. Hard to imagine anyone else than Idris Elba.
Idris Elba is LUTHER. BBC dramas are really great. A lot of countries failed their remakes. Life on Mars is less known but very good. For me BBC is a label of quality.
Life On Mars and it's spinoff Ashes to Ashes was awesome. And you are right Idris Elba IS Luther. Impossible to top.
Yeah I was disappointed in recent episodes of Sherlock but BBC shows are usually quality. And of course their Jane Austen adaptations are the best, I own DVDs of their Pride&Prejudice 1995 and Emma (2009) miniseries.
@Royal Me:
The BBC version of Pride and Prejudice I'd my favorite, since I saw it for the first time 21 (!) years ago. Only North & South later managed to dethrone it.
I think I will check Mistress, for Rich Man, Poor Woman, they often screw up reamake of J-drama and in this case, they didn't choose a charismatic actor to be the male lead.
I'd rather rewatch the J-version of RMPW. This K-cast looks very weak as compared.
Ha Yeon Soo is a decent actress and actually looks a lot like Ishihara Satomi, if only she hadn't messed with her chin.
Pass on Mistresses but hanging out for RMPW for my girl Kim Ye Won just adore her to bits and for Ha Yeon Soo last saw her in Potato Star 2013. Haven't seen the JDrama version so happy to wait for the Korean remake and for Suho. I'm glad I just get to see KYW again. ❤️
I`am looking forward to all of them(expect Mistresses) ...RMPW and Life On Mars should be easy remakes but Luther will be very hard as its an iconic role for Elba,Still there some Korean actors who might pull it off it the casting that will make or break it...
