The first batch of 2018 J-doramas have wrapped up as the winter 2018 lineup has all finished airing and the spring 2018 doramas have arrived. I’m still playing catch up on two doramas but for the first that I’ve finished it’s easily a solid win and entertaining from start to end. Forensic medical dorama Unnatural with Ishihara Satomi and Iura Arata did more than the standard medical drama as it introduced a super quirky and endearing bunch of folks at the UDI (unnatural death investigation) led by the two lead forensic pathologists that have their own personal reasons to take their extensive medical training and use it on dead people rather than saving those who are still alive. Unnatural is easily my favorite drama this year so far but it might lost that perch once I’m done with the also highly entertaining Matsumoto Jun‘s ratings hit second season 99.9 Criminal Lawyer season 2 (99.9: Keiji Senmon Bengoshi).

awesome drama, sp episode please!
I want to check out Unnatural, I’ve been hearing good things about it.
I’d love to hear more of your thoughts on any other asian dramas you are currently watching Miss Koala!
This is a great drama in fact J drama seems to capture the emotion and true life experience of people which we can realate to i think better than anybody...The film Japanese Story was the calalyst for me.?
Yeah I feel like kdramas are usually warmer and more dramatic but jdramas tend to be more mellow or muted so they capture slice-of-life really well.
I feel like Japan does dead-people/medical/detective dramas really well, I still remember how good Border was, nothing I've seen in kdramas (even the widely praised ones like Signal) has ever come close.
Border is amazing. I agree about the medical/police and also slice of life dramas are done very well by the Japanese entertainment industry. I wish they licensed more of their dramas for international viewers.
I loved Unnatural it was a really good drama that turned out to be favorite for the winter season. There were a lot of good ones this time that I've found myself watching more Jdramas this winter than Kdramas.
I love this drama so much I hope we have a second season or at most SP.
I have heard a lot of positive comments about this drama so I'll definitely check this out now when it has finished airing (doesn't have to endure waiting for each episode to come out :p)
Besides, I really like Satomi and her choices when picking dramas. My favourite of hers is still "Dear Sister". Let's see if Unnatural might take its spot.
It's over :) the subtitle are complete.
Thank you for telling me :)
