It’s been a year and a half since Gong Yoo was on any screen big or small and his next potential project has finally been unveiled. He’s been offered the male lead to Korean film Xu Fu, based on the Chinese historical folklore of Emperor Qin Shi Huang sending Xu Fu to look for the fountain of youth. However this Xu Fu movie is not a big screen adaptation of that historical tale but instead using the narrative to discuss modern day feelings and approach to cloning. If one cannot find a magical elixir to live forever then being eternally cloned into new body is an interesting alternative for those power and/or rich. Gong Yoo is reportedly seriously considering the role and at this point I think anything he touches is gold.
