Netflix K-drama Kingdom Drops Tense and Thrilling First Stills and Teaser

There are two sageuk zombie projects slated for year end 2018 and the first to arrive was the movie Rampant (Outbreak) with Hyun Bin and Jang Dong Gun which premiered first in the box office but has since then petered out and will likely net less than it’s $15 million budget domestically and will need international and streaming sales later on to recoup. Reviews have said the characterization is wafer thin but that shouldn’t be a problem for the next to arrive zombie project the Netflix produced K-drama Kingdom with an 8-episode rather than 2-hour feature film length. Starring Joo Ji Hoon, Bae Doo Na, and Ryu Seung Ryong, it looks just like Rampant at first blush with a crown prince, evil court official, and concerned ordinary woman in the mix. I think the drama looks fantastic even without the comparison to Rampant but I legit don’t know how it’s possible for the protagonists to escape Joseon era zombies without the aid of a train, plane, or automobile. Take a boat to Jeju, maybe?
