Lee Jong Seok and Lee Na Young Lead Script Reading Session for tvN Drama How to Publish Love

Since folks seem to have really strong and broad opinions and mismatched drama casting lately, here’s one more that definitely will garner skeptical commentary. The cast for early 2019 airing K-drama How to Publish Love (Romance Supplement or Romance Bonus Book) gathered for the script reading last week led by leads Lee Jong Seok and Lee Na Young, with buzz high on this one due to the returning from a nearly ten year drama hiatus of the leading lady and the current drama It Boy status of the male lead who has been cutting a swatch with high profile costars in all his previous dramas. Lee Jong Seok has publicly stated that Lee Na Young is his dream ideal female costar but I legit feel so detached from all her previous drama roles it’s hard for me to see what onscreen charisma she exudes. They do look mismatched to me in the script reading stills as well so this is kinda an early two strikes for me but the credentials of the production team keep me intrigued with the PD of Life on Mars and The Good Wife with the screenwriter of the I Need Romance series.

  • I agree with you. They don’t look suited together visual. Sadly this is last drama before he enlists in the military.

They really look like auntie/nephew haha but I always have a week spot for noona dongseng romances like in I hear your voice.

  • Visuals are quite weak. To me, LNY has somehow lost her charm in these stills... Supportive cast also looks weak. Is LJS still an "It Boy"?

  • LJS looks so different did he do his nose??? And he is partnered with lee na young hull the visual...no comment.

  • Sorry but I don't find LNY that pretty and Lee Jong Suk playing a genius again lol some inetz think he is a acting genius tho

  • Dependent on the first episode and if the chemistry is there well that’s a sure tell sign of good things are gonna happen. Followed by the storyline and scriptwriting then everything should fall into place and this age/visuals compatibility that’s being raised will just take a back seat. That for me is the benchmark that I like to base my drama viewing on and so far so good I’m on track happily plodding along with my fair share of dramas right now.

    • Pretty much. I give it till episode 2 to capture me, if it's good it'll do it by then

I forgot I actually like LJS as an actor, was watching Pinocchio recently on Netflix and surprised by how good his chemistry was with Yoon Kyun Sang as brothers. It's just that While You Were Sleeping followed that formula but couldn't get the actors to recapture that same magic, both the lead and supporting cast of Pinocchio were just several levels better. Like the difference between scratchy acrylic sweater and genuine 100% merino wool sweater, even if both look the same in pictures, you can feel the difference once it's worn.

  • I like the PD! Life on Mars and The Good Wife were great remakes! I liked I Need Romance series too. For the casting, I think I never watched a drama with LNY and for LJS it depends on the roles.
